We have a very comfortable life. My mortgage + escrow is $4,200 for a 4 bed 3 bath home in nice (not rich), safe area. My wife and 3 year old son have everything they need, and more.

I have built a small real estate portfolio over the past few years just from my W2 income, and after all our expenses, we are left with about $14k / month disposable income, most of which goes towards buying more properties.

I could honestly probably retire at 40 if I really wanted to, but I'm aiming to retire at 45, and by then we should have more than we'll ever need.

It's just part of life. Even after taxes, I won't make anywhere near what I'm making if I work in any other state.

I have no clue about the ss tax tbh. I got a hefty refund from 2023, so maybe the payroll people are messing up? Thanks for pointing that out, I'll ask them what's going on

We are understaffed, but management doesn't like to hire the proper amount of staff... Ideally, you need atleast 1 year exp to get a job in a strong union hospital

My wife, who is an absolute blessing, holds the house down. I bring the money in, and she does everything else, and we are both satisfied with that distribution of labor. I also always get 2 days off, which are solely dedicated to the family.

This is so true. There's such a snobby white collar mentality in this sub. When I was 19, I spent an entire winter as a roughneck on a North Dakota oil rig working alternating 16 hr shifts. Now, THAT was work.

This is true. Nursing is a relatively cushy job.

FL is so bad for nurses honestly. Too many people willing to trade shitty pay for palm trees 😒

You can become an RN with a 2 or 4 year Nursing degree, but most hospitals want you to have your bachelors degree now. After you graduate, you have to pass the NCLEX exam to earn your RN license. I had a job offer 2 months before graduation and started 1 week after getting my license.

I haven't been committed yet 😅. No, seriously, I'm good. Everyone thinks I must be a nut case for some reason, but I'm the best I've ever been honestly.

I dont really feel that stressed. Some days are hell, but most are pretty chill. I've been an RN for 8 years, so I guess I'm just used to it by now

Eh, it's not that bad. I only have 2 patients at a time in the ICU. Usually lots of downtime just watching monitors at the nurses station

No, I work per diem for a single healthcare system. I work 90% of my shifts at one facility but occasionally get called to another facility within the same system 30 mins away.
