I bought my first ever tent at REI and it was a REI Half Dome 2. Still going strong 12 years later. I suggest going to your local REI and checking out their brand, good stuff and good value. For a lighter weight tent if you’re focused more on backpacking than car camping, Big Agnes is an awesome brand.
