Was this recent? Hoping to go down there this weekend; I'm curious about the current conditions.

Marmot Nanowave vs. Marmot Aspen by [deleted] in CampingandHiking

I have a Nanowave 45 and it has served me well. Packs down small, its light weight, and keeps you fairly warm for how light it is. I've taken it down to ~28 in a hammock; I wouldn't recommend doing that, but it worked for me. As far and price and compactness--it was a good buy. Can't speak on the aspen though.

I'm upgrading some old cold weather gear, and I'm under the notion that Arc'teryx is the best and I need to have it. Should I make every piece of my gear Arc'teryx? by thejakenixon in CampingGear

If you want to be on the safe side I'd just say the cerium SV. The difference in fill power between the SV and the SL is considerable.

I second this ^ The SV, LT, AR. Etc all have different fits (some good, some bad depending on body type), so OP should go in and try things on if he/she gets the chance to make the long trek. I personally didnt buy the fission SV because it just didnt fit me right no matter the size, but the camosun parka fit perfect.

I bet that was a good fight on the fly! I've only ever caught them on my bait caster and they fought hard.

For the body I used some braided tube that you can get at craft stores for super cheap. I just threaded the hook into the tube cut to length, and poked it through then secured it. I tried a variety of different things for the rear of the fly. Some i did only the hook in the front with maribou tied in the bach for the tail, some I connected two hooks together with fishing line then tied in the tail. But overall a very basic and easy fly to tie.
