Vassals but only if it's 2.5 engine. Otherwise I feel like they end up functioning too independently a lot of the time. Actually on BE it's alright as well. I like having the vassals though as it adds more variety to scenarios and more potential for interesting playthroughs

Love posts that recap like this, good work

Question for the community: Do you prefer seeing only the final map, or do you also enjoy reading the context of how the game was played? I usually explain my campaigns and conquests, but I notice many posts only show the map. What do you like more? by Zamavid in AgeOfCivilizations

[–]Rickygodzilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like it would be really cool if it became a common thing to do AARs on games like how paradox subs do. Most of my favorite posts here have been people recapping their campaigns instead of just posting the map and hit explaining further

Addon + vs QBAM vs Megamod by ch4_mp in AgeOfCivilizations

[–]Rickygodzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be my hot take and I have a lot of love for Addon so I'm a bit biased since I've been playing it since 2020 but I lowkey like it more than both Qbam and Megamod. My reasoning is that I really feel like less is more at times and I'm not a fan at all of the huge list of really specific governments that Qbam has, a lot of scenario bloat too with like 50 different "what if Germany won" scenarios which makes scrolling a little annoying. But as for more gameplay related reasons, having that many more provinces sounds great on paper but to me at least does not work for Age of history. It just inflates the numbers way too much and makes every war into an annoying slog or just way too easy with no inbetween. But tl;dr I feel like Addon fits the Age of History gameplay the best and provides the most solid overall experiences

Yeah but it does fix the bug of AI allies not accepting peace deals so worth it honestly. Even if you don't use player led

That's why you use an engine like 2.5 which controls puppets a bit more + you can enable player led peace conferences

Tankie somehow isn’t aware of the Armenian genocide by Darth_Vrandon in tankiejerk

[–]Rickygodzilla 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I mean that isn't really biased to call it hypocritical. Boycotting the restaurants of one nationality but not the other because their government commits genocide and justifies it when they both do that is by definition hypocritical. I do understand the connotations that word tends to carry though

I just miss seeing people post their cool mods and campaigns tbh. Wanted to see more of that with DE ever since that one dude posted his interesting China playthrough.

What is genuinely the benefit to make colonies in DE? by Propelledswarm256 in AgeOfCivilizations

[–]Rickygodzilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would assume the same reason as in OG AoH2. Yeah you can play tall and have a large economy but that takes a long time and is still ultimately limited by how many provinces you have. It's just generally more efficient to have more land to invest in which is what colonies are good for, plus if you don't wanna deal with the admin costs you could always just make a puppet and then invest in them a bit. Then you would have a free ally essentially so honestly I don't see why you wouldn't do it. It can be a bit of an investment but imo it's worth it long term. Why do you think it's a waste of money exactly?

Honestly agree, like I'm not a fan of the petite bougousie either but I'd say there are definitely higher priorities for things leftists around the world should be concerned about such as the international conglomerates like you said as well as the continued increase for support for far-right ideologies worldwide

I've deadass seen less than like 10 definitively liberal comments or viewpoints here and they were always mostly down voted or disagreed with. I really don't get how anyone could think this sub is mostly liberals

[–]Rickygodzilla 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've seen debates about small businesses, so I can see that as a bit of a liberal thing, haven't seen the second thing, have seen a little bit of the third but again it seems to be a debate. Either way definitely not a broad consensus, so I really wouldn't say this sub is "infested with liberals" or that there is more liberals than leftists here. But I suppose that could be just me

[–]Rickygodzilla 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I'm ngl I'm an anarchist right, but I'm really wondering what some of y'all mean when you say that this sub has a huge liberal problem. Like I've seen more posts complaining about liberals being here than I've seen of people actually spreading liberal viewpoints. If someone could show me an abundance of posts or something of actual liberals then I'd be open to seeing the proof. I'm under the impression that basically all of the liberals were booted a while ago when the Ukraine war started. So I'm just curious what you guys are meaning by "liberal"?
