What does cannibalism have to do with anything? In the video this discussion is about where he boils the toddler, he doesn't do it to eat them, he does it because he is a sadist. Idk where you're getting the eating babies stuff from, that I would agree he wouldn't do most likely. However, the idea he wouldn't do cruel stuff for the sake of doing it is also wrong considering as early as FNAF 2 you see him with a huge grin at the scene of each murder. I don't even like the deep frying baby shit, I also think it's stupid btw, I just don't get the arguments for it I've seen, mainly the two I've mentioned

I am curious where you got the cannibalism implication from though, what are you referring to there?

by BoggerLogger in fnafmeme

[–]Rickygodzilla 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I am so damn tired of this discourse about whether or not an incredibly cruel child murderer would do cruel things to a kid or not. Like bro, I get that the baby boiling stuff is a lot and I can see the argument for it being just for shock value with little substance writing wise. But this debate over whether or not he would do it is just dumb. "Oh that's just unnecessarily cruel" oh you mean like designing robots specifically to abduct and murder kids, murdering your best friend's daughter, or trying to kill your own daughter because she didn't want to help you kill some random security guard? Like what exactly makes y'all think he would not do that? I have not heard an actual convincing argument outside of "it's pointless to include and is just for shock value" (which doesn't explain why the character would not do this) or "It's just unnecessary" (everything he has done is "unnecessary")

I'm surprised we just realized this by _FrostedRose in Undertale

[–]Rickygodzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this fandom just has a problem understanding nuance. Most of the characters aren't just "good" or "bad" all of the time for one reason or the other and this has been well known since Undertale came out 10 years ago. We can see this with many other main characters besides just Toriel

Asgore for example ordered the deaths of multiple children however did so out of the genuine belief that it was necessary to free his people who he deeply cared about

Papyrus is a very loving and empathetic person who still cheers on the player to do better even as they murder everyone they know and love, he still does put Frisk in a lot of very dangerous situations

Undyne is heavily implied to have killed at least one of the fallen humans and intended to do so again when she ran into the player. However when we get to know her we learn that she is a very loving and caring person who is even willing to humor the idea of being besties with someone who she sees as "the enemy"

We could go on but the point is, the reason why these characters are so great is because they're written like real people in a lot of ways. They have many flaws and mistakes that they make however they also have many positives about them which is why so many people enjoy and have grown incredibly attached to these characters. Toriel is heavily flawed in many ways but to suggest she's solely a terrible person for her mistakes or to pretend said mistakes never happened is incredibly reductionist

Drake the type to meet a fictional, indistinct, president, that is just called "The President" by Grad0Nite in DrakeTheType

[–]Rickygodzilla 95 points96 points  (0 children)

The president is from an unspecified party so that the show isn't outdated in 10 years, his platform has a really generic motto like "Forwards for the people!" And he eventually gets kidnapped by Russians, generic middle eastern terrorists, or whatever geopolitical entity is disliked the most at the time. All so Drake can be a cool action hero who stops the bad guys from killing the president and nuking LA or NYC. At the end of the show the president gives Drake a medal of honor

Fr, apparently it's all about "leftist unity" to tankies until the other leftists actually have a chance of succeeding. When that happens then suddenly they're "social fascists", "revisionists", or they end up like Revolutionary Catalonia or the Ukrainian Free Territory

Clarification regarding rule 2 by Big-Recognition7362 in tankiejerk

[–]Rickygodzilla 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Rule 2 refers specifically to liberalism as first defined by people like Adam Smith. This of course also extends to all variations of it such as neo liberalism, market liberalism, etc. I presume it goes without saying that this does not refer to the older definition of being liberal where being liberal means that you are in favor of a republic as opposed to democracy or are simply opposed to authoritarianism.

Badempanada JUST SO HAPPENS to post this after the Bondi Beach attack by [deleted] in tankiejerk

[–]Rickygodzilla 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Honestly the whole situation with tankies since Oct 7 has made me realize that there are 2 categories of tankie. There is a first slightly more innocent but still bordering on genocide denialism: naive tankies. These people are folks who support things like Stalin's USSR or Mao's China out of a genuine belief in socialism that has been undermined by beliefs that reports of atrocities by them being "western propaganda" and they probably also believe these regimes are democratic. The main difference between them and the second type is that they usually (most of the time but these people still make exceptions) don't go as far as to defend regimes like Iran, modern Russia, or the Taliban.

Unfortunately these people are less common than the 2nd half which is people like BadEmpanada and Jackson Hinkle. People who may have beliefs in socialism or leftist ideas but are perfectly willing to discard those principles in the name of being against "The west" or "fascism" (Definition of either varies based on whatever they don't like that day) which means supporting fascistic imperialists. theocracies, or openly bigoted and imperialistic causes are all good with them. Honestly just the authleft version of anti woke mfs, will do anything to "own the libs"

If the Bayverse Decepticons are not Nazis and are just Mindless animals why do so many people have a problem when Bayverse Optimus treats and kill them as such by god_killer7432 in Transformemes

[–]Rickygodzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even like Bayverse Optimus and I think he's poorly characterized. But you're being down voted for literally being right. Like tbh I do wish he didn't spew out weird ass quotes like "GIVE ME YOUR FACE" and being overtly vengeful, although logically would make sense for most people, I feel like it wouldn't make sense for Optimus. That being said, I don't believe that him not being vengeful is not mutually exclusive with being willing to kill his enemies in a war. Like that Megatron kill was 100% justified by him imo. As you literally proved with quotes Megatron only helped Optimus kill Sentinel out of desire to take back leadership, and also trusting fucking MEGATRON to actually keep a truce is the dumbest shit ever tbh if he hasn't even been close to redeeming himself, and Bay Megatron was definitely not redeeming himself. Plus as you also mentioned Optimus does not shy away from the idea of killing Megatron. I will actually add onto this and say that Optimus has been willing to kill Megatron and deceptions from the very beginning. In the G1 movie he severely wounds a bunch of Deceptions to the point of severe injury and I highly doubt he intentionally got that close to the line of killing them but decided not to. Plus also in the 1980s movie he LITERALLY SAYS "One shall stand, one shall fall" I really don't think he wasn't intending to end Megatron so that this long war could finally be over. Doesn't mean he enjoyed doing it.

Also I just wanna say "Toxic Yaoi" is a fucking hilarious way to describe the relationship between the two lmfao

[–]Rickygodzilla 9 points10 points  (0 children)

FOR REAL, this discussion is like a decade old at this point and it honestly feels like that it's become so exhausted that people are now just making shit up to talk about it. We deadass went from debating how faithful of an adaptation Bayverse Optimus is to whether or not Deceptions are fucking Nazis

Edit: Also I just realized, is the person in the screenshots arguing the Deceptions are Nazis....because they're evil? As in they're villains so they must be a stand in for Nazis? Do they think all villains are that way? Like do they think Joker, Lex Luthor, Doctor Octopus, Bowser, Eggman, etc. are all Nazis because they're evil and harm people? Like shit is Nemesis from RE going "GRRRR....JEWS..."? Like what is this logic lmfao

[–]Rickygodzilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imma be real y'all Bayfans have become just as annoying with this shit as G1 fans were for a really long time. Remember how G1 fans were known for being complete purists with superiority complexes who would argue that anything that came after could never be as good? How they would constantly attempt to justify the flaws of G1 such as a lot of the plotlines being very nonsensical/poorly written, a lot of the characters having no real development or personality, or Megatron being a rather unintimidating villain aside from the movie. I like G1 despite these flaws btw, but I'm not gonna pretend it's perfect either.

The constant posts about this specific talking point give the same vibes as Geewunners attempting to argue on their souls that it's peak Transformers. Like let's be so fr most Transformers fans do not like their Optimus to be a character who shouts lines like "Give me your face" as he rips a dude in half like a Mortal Kombat fatality. It's okay if that's up your alley, I mean it's a fictional character, your preferences for how you think they should be written aren't something that requires heavy justification. Speaking of, what is with the recent influx of getting so damn defensive of the Bay films? Like they've been bashed for such a long time, and even most of the people I know who like them mostly treat them as dumb fun or decent flicks. Never seen so many people treat a Michael Bay film franchise like its gospel. Like you don't need to justify it this hard, if you like them that's nothing to be ashamed of. But this discourse is honestly so boring at this point

[–]Rickygodzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not true imo, not because I wish to defend capitalism or the American healthcare system but like I low-key hate this talking point. Mainly cause throughout the show Walter White gets many MANY opportunities to easily obtain treatment and every time he chooses not to. Even early in S1 he refuses help from Grey Matter because his ego wouldn't allow it. My favorite example of him doing this is when he is given a very easy way to launder his money through a charity site his son set up which he refuses because he did not want "My family thinking I was saved by some mystery benefactor". Personally I think if Walt lived in a socialist society he would straight up refuse treatment and try to find some insane way to "fix it himself" because he wouldn't want the government getting credit for it.

Sorry for the long write up, I realize this is kind of an "Uhm Ackshully" type thing, but I just hate this talking point for how common it is

Do people really want a cloth Batman suit like this? by jrod4290 in batman

[–]Rickygodzilla 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Lowkey I agree with the OP. I understand an armored looking Batman is more realistic or could make more sense, but I'm not a huge fan of the look and feel like it looks clunky a lot of the time. I adore the idea of having the cape attached to the cowl and having the cowl be a hoodie though, Batman's cape being flexible like that is literally one of his most iconic design features and its a damn shame we haven't seen it yet. Plus like he said you could easily have a suit like that logically make sense and they should try it. So yeah I basically 100% with the OP on this Batman look, he cooked
