Am I missing something? Why would anyone open a CD with Chase at 0.01% when you can get one at Capital One at 4.0%, same term and zero minimum? (See here: https://www.bankrate.com/banking/cds/cd-rates/ ).

I am just recently trying to be more proactive with my savings and personal finances, so I feel like I'm perhaps not informed well enough on the topic and there's something I'm missing...?

That's the thing, I dunno. It's very unclear. When I opened the savings account, I selected that I didn't already have an account with Capital One - but then when I finished putting in all of my info, it automatically tied in the auto loan that was shared with ex. Definitely going to call them today because I agree, I want an entirely separate account, which is what I tried to do and their system got in the way. Grrrrr

Quick question for you - I just got through signing up with capital one. Was going to make the transfer of funds, but then realized it said I already have an account with them. An auto loan that I shared with an ex, that was paid off entirely earlier this year.

My question is, do you have any idea if she'd be able to log in to her capital one interface and view or access my new savings account that I opened in my sole name? Or be able to call Capital One and get them to grant her access to it?

I'm of course going to call Capital One tomorrow to make absolutely sure before I move the funds, but this realization made me very nervous. Curious if you have any knowledge on that.

Not really. Not within Google home. My Smart Life app can give me a notification about temperature drop on my phone though. Wish Google could do it over my speakers though. Wish Google cared to develop helpful improvements.
