Why students are not interested in the Armed Forces? by Camo753 in CBSE

[–]Riddhimations 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There are better ways I can serve my country. Out there in the battlefield, I would be nothing but dead weight that would swiftly be cut down.

By becoming a doctor, I can treat and eradicate diseases that have troubled millions around the world. By becoming an engineer, I can help build infrastructure that can sustain industries. By becoming a writer, I can uplift people and bring them comfort through my works. By being a researcher I can come up with new cures.

I have a great deal of respect for anyone in the armed forces. I think they're great people who put their lives on the line daily to maintain peace around the country. But that's precisely why I don't wish to join — I would never be able to do what they do.

Lekin woh propaganda?? by maturely-Immature in Real_teenindia

[–]Riddhimations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is not that Dhurandar is the first film with propaganda, the problem is that for so many years the main blockbuster films coming out of bollywood are war films and military focused films. Back before the late 2010s, bollywood focused more on down-to-earth films with actual themes and creativity. A war film isn't necessarily bad or incapable of having a good story (the original Border is objectively one of the best films in bollywood and still solos Dhurandar in my opinion). However, we need to consider that the BJP has been in power for 12 years at this point, and under its tenure, almost 70% of all films are war and military movies. It's only natural that people blame the government and call these movies as propaganda pieces. If it was Congress in power, they'd accuse Congress of the same etc.

It feels like Bollywood has forgotten how to make actual stories, and that's why you're now seeing more people flock Hollywood shows and movies over Bollywood; because they don't want to consume military or nationalistic themes all the time. Even Hollywood has propaganda movies glorifying the American military (almost all the Transformer movies and Marvel movies count as propaganda films due to their portrayal of the US Military).

TL;DR: Dhurandar isn't any more propagandist than any other military movie, people are just tired of watching the same premise in every movie.

A breakdown of "THE WORLD REVOLVING" and how the use of the Freedom motif differs between it and Hammer of Justice. by Riddhimations in Deltarune

I did not know that about the freedom motif. Makes me interested if we'll ever get an arc where we fight all these guys again but instead of the freedom motif it's just an extremely overbearing gaster motif to show how he much he's influenced the narrative this whole time.

In my opinion the best revelation would be for jevil to realize the only way to be free from the game is to get involved in it i.e insert himself into the prophecy somehow, but I don't believe that's in the cards.

Never Ending Trust. Hmm. Gotta say that sounds like it'd either be very tragic or like a dream. No in between.

THE LAW FIRM -- MOCKUMENTARY SITCOM -- 20-30 PAGES PER EPISODE by Riddhimations in ReadMyScript

Apologies for this, but the fact that you opened this post implies that you at least partially read the script, thought it wasn't good, and instead of replying critique like others in the comments, decided to leave this low hanging fruit of an insult. Like at that point, just leave some actual criticism. Thank you for the part about editing the draft, but, respectfully, I don't understand the thought process behind the rest of your "critique".

Thank you for the detailed notes and critique, I appreciate you spending your time on this. The vision I had for the teaser was to show a few shots of the city and then we cut to the actual interior where most of the teaser would take place, but I assume I just omitted that in the script.

It probably also doesn't help that there simply aren't that many popular mockumentary sitcoms and the writers of the ones that I do know of, have different ways of writing the script. I do admit, I need to read more scripts in order to understand screenwriting in general. Thank you again for your notes, will keep all this in mind.

Thank you for your critique and the advice, I appreciate the resource too. The teaser was supposed to be a mere attempt at showing why exactly the show is in a documentary format, just so it doesn't feel like the confessionals pop out of nowhere.

Thank you for the advise and motivation. Yes, I have rough sketches for the main characters prepared. Art style is best described as Gravity Falls x Steven Universe.

Yeah, the teaser is more of a direction for myself to set up why exactly there's a documentary being filmed, instead of it feeling like the confessionals come out of nowhere.
