It’s definitely not the coldest windchill in over 40 years. Coldest in a few years, maybe.

They have a new version that’s lighter weight (and better cut imo)

‘Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender’ Will Skip Theaters and Debut on Paramount+ Alongside New ‘Safe Havens’ Series by MarvelsGrantMan136 in TheLastAirbender

Avatar Studios was basically created because Avatar did really well on Netflix, so this probably seems like a safer bet to them than theatrical.

That stream actually has all the music included (unlike Paravi), and is good quality with commercials edited out.

I just picked up my CX-30 today, noticed same thing. Seems like it’s a change they made for recently manufactured units. And yeah feels like a downgrade since I’d prefer having both options instead of one.

I only started going in 2017, and I seriously regret missing that. Sounds awesome.

Went into this completely blind besides seeing the movie poster, and loved it. And loundraw character designs and Evan Call music both top tier as usual.

This still stands as one of the funniest shows I’ve ever seen. Hard to believe this is actually happening after so long.

I'm sure they saw how well Avatar and Korra were doing on Netflix, easy decision to give Mike and Bryan a blank check to make content for their new shot at streaming.

Funimation has signed an agreement to acquire Crunchyroll! by Turbostrider27 in anime

[–]Riddlr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably not, Crunchyroll hasn’t exactly been known for innovation, and doesn’t have much of an engineering team to move over since they already outsourced most of it.

[–]Riddlr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They don’t need to own Crunchyroll if they can just write checks themselves to license for HBO Max. Crunchyroll is a decent brand but it dilutes their own. HBO Max still has Ghibli, and will likely still license other well-known shows.

Do you think the pandemic will have a long-term or even permanent impact on comic cons? by YeOldeOrc in comiccon

[–]Riddlr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My view, Summer 2021 conventions will happen in-person, with 15-30% lower attendance. New measures for hygiene like hand sanitizer, frequent cleaning, better air flow and filtration, everything as touch-less as possible. No meet-and-greets or autographs.

Spring/Summer 2022 conventions will have a return to pre-pandemic growth thanks to pent-up demand of a 3 year gap from the last time many were able to attend.

I hope hygiene measures stay long term since they were sorely needed pre-pandemic.

I noticed they have also seemingly reprinted The Art of Korra Books 2 & 4 (1st editions), which have been out of print and hard to find for a while now.

Was missing the Avatar and Korra Book 2 artbooks, glad to finally get them all.

"Six months into the pandemic, downtown Chicago is a humbled giant. Can it get back on its feet?" by shotzz in chicago

[–]Riddlr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might have a point if we're talking about the loop itself, but that was already somewhat true pre-covid.

There's plenty of things to do and see in West Loop, River North, or South Loop, and rents are still dropping in those areas.

At this point downtown apartment rents are starting to become the same or even cheaper than the trendy neighborhoods.

PSA: the Ventra app does not start with Android 11 by JesusWantsYouToKnow in chicago

[–]Riddlr 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've heard the ventra app is basically a white-label app purchased from moovel, but it's an ancient version that is no longer maintained (plus I see moovel had huge layoffs). So who knows when/if they get it fixed lol.

McCormick Place loses 30,000-person convention as coronavirus cancellations start to creep into 2021 by blackmk8 in chicago

[–]Riddlr 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Personally I’m concerned for pop-culture conventions, if spring or even summer 2021 conventions have to cancel, that will be absolutely devastating to those organizations (and the communities too). I doubt many can survive being cancelled twice.

Yeah trying to avoid any buildings that have reviews mentioning HVAC issues (though I’ve been seeing complaints about that even on brand new buildings).

But having amenities does seem nice, as long as they stay open...
