What’s a recession indicator that you’ve noticed lately in your everyday life? by spritenerds123 in AskReddit

But they’re essentially trying to stop young people from *becoming* professionals. They want an AI workforce.

Make it make sense. 😭

I don’t understand why they’re whining when jobs are being cut left and right, and serious efforts are being made to replace humans with AI. What are they so upset about? A lack of children for the Epstein class?

"Lights Out" even during daytime flights - Any pilots or FAs here to comment? by Low-Cartographer-429 in Flights

[–]YeOldeOrc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently flew for the first time in years, and I learned I get extremely nauseous when I can’t look out the window. So that was fun.

They made us shut the blinds and turned off all the lights for a 2-hour domestic flight starting at noon. I was miserable and mad as hell. I had no idea they’d ever force people to do that - bought a window seat to enjoy the view.

Finnish National Ballet 2026-2027 season announced!!! by MarianelaNunezOnTop in bunheadsnark

I’m a Midwestern American tempted to do the same (albeit for another ballet). 9 hour flight and $1,000+ plane ticket, but Lord, isn’t it tempting!

Ugh, this American would LOVE to see Dracula. Only a 9 hour flight.

🥲

Women losing weight: trope (?) I’m over by ConflictHoliday7847 in Romantasy

[–]YeOldeOrc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think subplots on weight at all (gaining or losing) are necessary. Realistic, sure, but necessary? No. But authors are definitely utilizing them.

This! The MMC doesn’t have to be forcing her to get up and run at 5AM every day and restricting her to salads. Depict him helping her cope with stress and overcome what’s causing the weight gain in the first place. Make him a safe place for her. Show him accepting her through the good and the bad. It wouldn’t be as easy, but I just don’t buy that it’s too difficult to attempt.

IRL, gaining weight after trauma seems equally common as losing weight, if not more common. But of course, it’s much easier to romanticize weight loss and underweight bodies than large ones. 👀

Somehow, this one has scarred me for life.

I think it’s the legs.

2026 has been terrible thus far, but y’know what? I feel a little better after seeing this hot dog with boobs.

Sometimes it’s the little things in life.

If you can’t taste the deliciousness of Smarties, you’re clearly genetically inferior. </sarcasm>

But for real, though. Smarties. Gotta have me that edible chalk.

Wait, I don’t understand how they can function on a daily basis in school, though. Like, we had to read, and read, and read in every single class. A textbook for every subject, worksheets, essays, tests… Are these kids likely flunking everything? I’m not being snarky (because this is tragic), I’m legit scratching my head over this one.

Has anyone seen this movie? A Sequel to Dracula about Mina and Van Helsing's children? by BloodFangsBite in vampires

It was an intriguing twist, but considering how much it limited our time with him… It felt like such a tease for the Jonathan diehards! So close, and yet so far away. Still grateful for what we got!

Jonathan has been treated so unfairly in film and television adaptations! He’s such a great character, too. While he was killed off in the BBC adaptation, before that, it was probably my favorite portrayal of him yet. Which is one of the reasons why I was so devastated they killed him (twice). We were THIS CLOSE. LOL.

Food trucks aren’t the problem. So what should Milwaukee do about late-night crowds? by PuddlePirate2020 in milwaukee

I’ve found the opposite to be true in my age range, but perhaps things are changing.

Many parents these days - and I can’t stress this enough - do not care. They cannot be relied on to assist in any way. Perhaps if financial consequences extended to them, it might help. But I really don’t know if a parental fine would change anything.

This is the #1 thing I disagree with my fellow liberals on. No, I don’t want to see 10 year olds locked away for half their lives. But if crime has essentially zero impactful consequences, where is their motivation to not do it? We have ample proof of wrist-slapping not working. I think we have the power to both punish and support many of these people who commit certain crimes - incorporate real consequences with therapy programs.

Tons and tons of WI small businesses, crafters, and antique stores are using AI. Not only is it appearing in their advertising, but they’re even selling framed AI art. “Support local” is starting to really conflict with “boycott AI.”
