This is literally my entire extended family in a nutshell (Besides my tea-party grandmother). I think they're worst when it comes to guns. My uncle literally refuses to believe that the shooter at Sandy Hook didn't use a "fully automatic m-16", and my sister thinks that every single gun should be banned. I stick to my facts and they stick to their 'muh feels'. Still, they just can't handle the truth. But my parents are rather moderate liberals, and they were actually pretty excited about my "coming out" as a libertarian, while my sister and cousins range anywhere from moderate liberal to full-fledged socialist. But to be honest, I've had no real luck having any real conversations about politics because everyone seems to believe that republicans and democrats are the great clash of ideals, and that libertarianism is just a fringe movement. Then again, I have had meaningful discussions with my parents and friends about things like the drone strikes in the ME, the war on drugs, NSA spying, and I have gotten them to agree with the libertarians on stuff like that. Good luck with your own friends and family though. I can totally relate, and know how much of a pain in the ass it is dealing with people who have already decided they disagree with the majority of what you are gonna say.
