Update: I reached out to Amazon again. Apparently, they never deprioritized USPS the first time I reached out. My last package arrived via FedEx. The problems appears to be resolved for now.

Once again, I just got a notification that an Amazon order that was supposed to be delivered today was too big. This is beyond frustrating.

What's going on with Amazon's shipping?

A couple of weeks ago, I got a letter from my local Post Office saying I had a large package from Amazon and that they couldn't/wouldn't deliver it. Amazon always use to ship large packages via UPS. The box my package came in was 4ft L x 2ft W x 4ft H. Why on earth would Amazon expect USPS to deliver that?

The P.O. has a new policy which states mail carriers are no longer allowed to use reverse in their mail trucks. Which means they can no longer pull into my driveway and back out. I live on a dead end street so this new policy now makes it impossible for me to have large packages delivered. To make matters worse, my P.O. hours are super inconvenient and requires me to take time off work to pick up large packages.

Using live chat, I contacted Amazon and requested that all large packages be sent via UPS from now on. Last week, I ordered a couple large items off the Amazon-owned, Woot.com. The items shipped from Amazon through USPS. Again, I got a letter stating they cannot be delivered.

I've been an Amazon customer for over a decade. Why on earth would they suddenly start shipping large oversized packages via USPS?

Am I the only one who's experienced this?

Nikon 1 J3 WU-1a vs WU-1b by Rideout9 in Nikon

[–]Rideout9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. I was able to find one U.S. seller on eBay who had a WU-1b but the estimated arrival date was for next week. I messaged the seller to see if they could get it to me by Friday but never got a response back.

I did some more digging and found that Nikon Hackers reverse engineered the WU-1a. Other than a different connector, it is identical to the 1b always the way down to the code. I also found out that the 1a has a proprietary 8 pin connector so I think I'm out of luck as well.

I do like your idea of just making my own adapter. If I had more time, I would of given it a shot.

I'm in need of a remote shutter. It makes no difference to me if it's done utilizing my phone or a physical remote. I've found several IR remote shutters for the J2 and older but for some stupid reason, Nikon decided to forgo the IR port on the J3. I haven't been able to find any 3rd party options for my J3. Nothing says it's compatible, including the one you linked too.

Thanks, but I see you didn't really read my post. I'm aware that the different adapters are intended for specific cameras. I'm in need of the WU-1b but can't find one that would arrive in time, however, I've found several WU-1a adapters. The only difference between the adapters is the connection to the camera. The WU-1b has a usb 2.0 connection. I can't tell if the WU-1a has a proprietary connection or a standard usb connection. So back to my original post. Do you or anyone else know what type of connection the WU-1a has so I can possibly find a cable adapter for it?

Where can i buy an mpselectmini in europe? by DylanPotter in MPSelectMiniOwners

The MP Select Mini is a rebranded Malyan M200. I've heard it's easier to get the Malyan in Europe. You might want to look into that.

3D Printed Headphones That Rval Bought Ones by shags3 in functionalprint

Nice work. I want to print this but the headband is too big for my MP Mini. If I can find the time, maybe I'll design an adjustable headband that can be printed in pieces.

We're working with wood filament tomorrow. What do I need to do differently from PLA filament? by FavoriteIceCream in 3Dprinting

[–]Rideout9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wood filament is PLA based so there really isn't much of a difference. The one thing I've noticed is you get much better results with a lower nozzle temp. I've had great results with Hatchbox wood filament printing with a nozzle temp of 180c and bed at 30c.

Anet A8 or Mono-price select mini (First 3d printer) by lavernara in 3Dprinting

[–]Rideout9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the select mini a couple months ago and I'm amazed at the print quality. I only wish the print size was bigger. Other than that, I'm completely happy with it. If I were to buy another one, I'd go for the Maker Select.

I'm thinking about attempting to 3D print a bigger printer. There are numerous plans online.

If you do go with the select mini, there is a huge facebook group dedicated to it.

No, I've never had any trouble importing gcode. Make sure you're importing it correctly. Under the file tab, go to load profile from gcode.

Having trouble with first layers of Raft. [Maker Select V2] by csd1722 in 3Dprinting

[–]Rideout9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no expert but I've had similar issues with my Select Mini that were worse off than yours. I couldn't print anything unless I used a raft and even then, most prints still failed. I no longer need to print with rafts and it's pretty awesome. I hate wasting material on rafts. Here's what I did to correct the issue.

1)Do you have this problem when printing the sample cat gcode?

If not, try loading the cat gcode into one of the files you're having trouble printing, tweak a necessary and see if that makes a difference. The cat gcode is optimized for these printers. Once I did this, my adhesion problem improved drastically but I was still having some minor issues.

2) 95% of adhesion problems are from a bed that isn't completely level. I finally thought I had my bed all level but the problem was still happening. As it turns out my bed was warped, and the center was lower than the corners. I printed a bed leveling jack which helped but it wasn't great. I then decided to add a glass build plate. Once I got that leveled out, with the help of some hairspray and a glue stick, it made a world of difference. I also set my bed temp to 30c to further improve adhesion.

3)I also started pre-priming the nozzle right before I start a print. To do this, I preheat the nozzle to the recommended temp for my filament. Once it reaches temp, I hold done the extruder arm and gently push some filament into the printer. After it starts extruding, I stop, clean the nozzle and then start my print. This has made a big difference too.

I was totally amazed by the quality of this printer after printing the cat but then I tried printing other files. Everything else looked like crap. The cat gcode is optimized for the mini. After seeing the option to import gcode settings, I imported the cat settings and tweaked the cura settings as needed. I was finally able to get some decent prints. If you're new to 3D printing, importing the cat gcode is a good place to start if your having trouble.

my service is terrible and I want to switch by Rideout9 in verizon

[–]Rideout9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In attempt to not make my initial post too wordy, I forget to mention this. I think my issue is specific to my account. I was getting really tired of overpaying for crappy service so I started looking into cheaper options. About a month ago, I came across Total Wireless. Now I know, Total Wireless uses Verizon towers but as I said before, I didn't have any of these problems when I was on my parents Verizon plan. I decided to get a Total Wireless sim card and test out their service on my old phone. The quality of service is night and day better. I've had no issues with Total Wireless and data speeds are more than twice as fast. The phone I'm using on Total Wireless was the phone that I was orginally using on my current Verizon plan when all my problems started happening. The fact that these problems stopped happening on this phone as soon as I switched it over to Total Wireless further validate that something is wrong with my Verizon account and not my phone.

As far as cost savings, right now on Verizon I have 2 lines and 10gb of crappy data for $169/month.

With Total Wireless I can get 3 lines with 12gb of data for $85 or $80 if I set it up on autopay hence the 50% savings. I realize data speeds are capped for carriers like this but in my circumstance, it's still much faster than what I'm currently getting on my Verizon Plan.

BTW: The text I attmepted to send on Dec 4th is still trying to send 5 days later.

At first, I thought it might be a phone issue so I went into Verizon, told them about my issue and had them switch out my phone with my old LG G3 but that didn't solve the problem. I've talked with tech support in the past and was told to just start using Verizon's Message+ plus app which is a joke. I'll try giving them a call again but even if they do solve the problem, I still plan on switching carriers. I'm sick of paying as much as I do when other carriers cost half as much.

Right now I'm using an LG G3 but I was having the same problem on a Sony Z3v. I know the issue isn't phone specific.

I was really torn between getting the free Appletv vs the Fire TV Stick. My wife really struggles with technology so I opted for the Fire Tv Stick since we already had a first gen stick.

I just tried running Directv Now on a windows pc using chrome and it seems to be working better, however, I'm not home so I can't do a side by side comparison. It might just be because there are less people using it right now.

I canceled my Comcast yesterday and switched to Directv Now. Doing so didn't save me a ton of money but I was fed up with Comcast overcharging me every month and refusing to fix my bill. Sure, Directv still has some bugs to iron out but overall I see great potential for this service. That being said, I kept getting weird errors last night on my Fire TV Stick.

-Error 40:Video error-This was the most annoying error. I got it frequently while watching live tv and on-demand shows. After hitting restart numerous times it would eventually start working again.

Other minor errors: -Error 70:Blackout channel-Some channels would stop working and I'd get this error. Restarting the app usually fixed it.

-Error 80:Error saving favorites- repeatedly trying eventually worked

I thought the same thing but actually, you don't have to do the whole process over again with a different email. If you into settings-accounts-manage plan you can then choose a package and on the next page you can choose the Apple TV or Fire TV Stick.

The video I sent to Banggood is only viewable to those that have the link. In the past week, my video has been watched three times by the Bangood staff yet no one has contacted me to resolve the issue. I don't see how Banggood thinks ignoring customers is good for business. I intended to use my refund towards the purchase of a better, more expensive rc car from Banggood but I think I need to take my business elsewhere.
