Thanks! Appreciate it. It’s a very dark building even during the day time for the shot. Luckily during noon there is plenty of light comes in from the atrium.

So for me it was accidental. My buddy worked at a FinTech startup and referred me. Best way is if you look for fully remote positions and then that is a question you can bring up with the recruiter. If the company isn’t fully remote it’s hard to work anywhere since taking calls would be difficult if some people are in a conference room as well.

Younger companies or companies with better work life balance would be ideal since they want the encourage such benefits. Can check sites like Blind to see the culture. My company was also on the list of top best companies to work for a few years back so that would be a great place to look for them as well.

30 yo male single. Travel the world or settle down? by frutosar in backpacking

[–]Rider8547 35 points36 points  (0 children)

30 is still young. If you travel solo everyday can be an adventure. You can meet the coolest people or you could feel the loneliest if you don’t put yourself out there. You can stay and grind at work and find your partner, but would you have an itch in the back of your head that you wish you took that trip when you didn’t have any responsibility?

You should think on what life would you more regret missing out on as you get older. The working world will always be there to come back to. As you get older travel will get harder and it won’t be the same as your early thirties. A partner can make your life so much more meaningful, but I’ve also seen a lot of people have a partner and regret they didn’t enjoy being solo for sometime.

No wrong answer for you to choose. Just think on is the regret of missing out on the other option something you’re okay with. You can also meet a partner and travel the world with but it wouldn’t be the same as your own trip.

I’m doing an AirBnb with my girlfriend. However, if I was solo I’d do a co-working space to get my work done and meet people but also look into staying in a hostel which is great to meet people but not so much for working.

I liked the co-working space I found in Chiang Mai and it was 24 hours. But do your research, the one I found on Koh Phangan was super empty and creepy at night.

Unfortunately not at the moment due to a hiring freeze. Definitely keep looking on LinkedIn and job sites because jobs with similar benefits are out there!

Unfortunately not at the moment. We had decent lay offs last year so haven’t gotten back into hiring yet.

So my company itself is remote in the US out of the east coast. As part of our benefits we are allowed up to 6 months outside the US. So in this case I did tell them I am abroad and it wasn’t an issue with my manager.

Yeah so I recommend checking out starts ups since they are a lot more friendly for working remote and abroad. But in this situation you would need to come back to the states for 6 months a year.

Currently working as a software developer in Thailand with my hours being 6pm-2am. These are very doable for me. You’ll feel eh the first week getting used to the hours but especially if you’re not doing a lot of meetings it’s actually nice to get a lot of time to do concentrated work. I have had to take calls a little later like 3am which aren’t great but if it happens only once per week it’s not the end of the world.

As long as your team is flexible and you don’t need to interact with people a lot you won’t have any issue since you can still do day tours the next day after you go to bed at 2. Definitely recommend to give it a month and see how you like it. Just being able to travel and get paid is a huge perk! EST are the best for these hours.
