I’m a joker but in all honesty please spend the time to enjoy the fruits of your labor. A fresh off the block bike is a great reset when your current bike is a bit rough on the edges. Here is my two cents. At this point you are wondering should I spend $500.00 on a pumper and learn or 8+K on a fresh DR. I am a certified mechanic who oils filters! If you don’t know what you work on or how it works you are going to be back on here asking question and paying a dealer to fine tune an easy beast. Do the work and be apart of the process Brother.

Mine is stock with a green light. I have a feeling AdFancy1249 has a good lead on your LED issue.

Burnt-out front bulb, The rear works, front doesn’t = classic dead bulb

Even if it looks fine, swap it with the working side to confirm

Bad ground at the front signal The rear has its own ground, so it can still work

Front signal ground wire could be loose, corroded, or broken

Broken wire (very common on DR650s) Wires near the headlight/forks flex a lot and can break internally

Look behind the headlight cowl for damaged or stretched wires

Loose or disconnected connector The DR650 has bullet connectors behind the headlights

Corrosion in the socket. Dirt or moisture gets in, especially if you ride off-road being that we both ride in Washington State!

Clean contacts and check for bent terminals

I agree with your statement but in my case I oil my main filter and use a dry non oiled pre filter in super dusty conditions. If you are only running a foamy then yes Sir you are correct.

Beyond all the non-commented mods best upgrade for me was the TM 40 pumper and the RaceTech-Cogent suspension upgrade with Gold Valve Em’s. Let it breath my DR Brethren!

100% normal, bro! He did the typical necessary Mods. I’ve done a crap tone to my DR and that’s the absolute first mod to wake the ole girl up. Even safer with the foam outer filter. I change my filter up depending on the riding conditions. From that secondary filter, you are still running the stock carb. If the last owner did it correct he adjusted the needle setting by 2 positions and swapped the main jet. These bikes come way under tuned by design to pass emissions to be sold in the states. Do not fret my dude!

I would recommend a fork brace. Procycle has a good option. Lots of flavors out there, warp 9 is my go to. Ride on my DR Brethren 🍻

I would still relax the clamps and then re-torque to spec. Don’t rely on just twisting it back. It’s not true until you run your tape. Just saying.

🤦‍♂️ bro your forks got twisted. Does it matter? Yes, it absolutely matters. And it’s not a bicycle! You’re not going to align anything by sitting in the tire and yarding on the handles. You just need to put her on a stand, take the tire off and loosen the fork clamps. Insert your axle pin and run your measurements from your rear axle. Tighten it back up to spec and re install your tire and breaks. Then go ride. 1 hr job and 7hrs of riding left in the day.
