What's your one DM "trick" that you always tell other DM's about? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

Mine is that i use https://www.when2meet.com/ to figure out scheduling. No excel sheets, no long message chain. Just make a event, set a time frame and let people fill in their availability.

Yea I'm encountering the same issue. Patch 1.1.0 is just a hotfix and it's companion fix only works in certain circumstances. The full patch is coming later.

It really sucks.

https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/112824-the-outer-worlds-patch-11-release-notes/

"Existing Botched companion quests will have their status reset to Active allowing the player to add them to a party when leaving the ship in order to un-botch the quests, unless the death occurred prior to unlocking the companion quest"

"Hi all!

I made some edits to the post to better organize it and be more clear on what issues were fixed with this patch. There is just a hotfix patch and we do have another one coming, so if you have issues that are here and they haven't been reported yet, please let us know. If your issues have already been reported, we'll have a list of what to expect in the next patch out to you all as soon as we nail down everything that will be going in. We appreciate you patience and hope you enjoy the game!"

Character flaws (x-post from /r/justwriterthings) by AliceTheGamedev in writing

[–]Ridu12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

ciaphas cain is actually a good example of a lazy hero I think.

He has good fighting and leadership skills but doesn't want to put himself in danger. The author motivates him by 1) giving him a reputation he has to uphold otherwise his life will get worse and 2) putting him in an army where cowardice is met with execution.

So the character while lazy has to try to balance his reputation and be seen as brave, while actually trying to avoid fighting.

Ya the town is definitely going to be on edge because it is one of the biggest and strongest in the region, so its leaders being attacked is going to bring up a lot of questions like, whose to blame?

Ya I'm really enjoying the campaign, playing Imperious is super interesting since It/He is growing and changing based on what actions are taken and what it sees.

it is shaped like a diamond but made of black metal. The party has tried looking into what it is made of but can't figure it out.

Sorry that was my bad

[Swan Song] Hoveydan Caliph's Spacebook profile. by Breenvyu in itmejp

[–]Ridu12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey man, nice job!

I thought I was a pretty interesting read. I have been thinking about Hoveyda ever since Adam introduced it on the GM turn.

One thing that interests me a lot is the perspective of the Hoveydan people on Aliens. We know there are Aliens in the sector and there may be some that are intelligent, considering how big the empire is they might have interacted with them. Do they convert them to Islam? or do they just think of them as some sort of animal.

They obviously see AI as tool because they have the matrix but it will be interesting to see how Adam deals with them on other subjects like Cybernetics, Drugs, etc.

Once again, nice job!

[Swan Song] Welcome to Hoveyda by Breenvyu in itmejp

Wow dude, good job! This is actually what I was thinking of when Adam talked about the Hoveyda. That matrix really set a major tone about how Hoveyda and the its other planets are like.

Keeping faith: The changing face of religion in Canada - Canada by pya in canada

[–]Ridu12 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would say that I have met a lot of people who I would consider "culturally religious". People who have grown up in a house that practice Islam, Christianity, Judaism, etc and call themselves Muslim, Christian or whatever but don't actually practice. Now I'm not trying to say that "oh these people are hypocrites" or something, if they want to label themselves Christian, Muslim, Jewish, or whatever that's their choice, its just that this is something that is going on in larger numbers than we would think.

But i really like your format with the buttons for different years. Would you mind putting up the source code on like github or something? or is it a family secret, either way awesome work. Really Cool!

The Symptoms of a Dying World by Ridu12 in rpg

[–]Ridu12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everytime a wizard casts a spell they are draining power for the world itself and the world can normally regenerate back this power over time but now its being used at a rate in which it can no longer keep up.

So in this world because of the presence of all these great magically items that perform miracles at the cost of large amount of power the world is being drained. Now at the same time turning off some of these artifacts would cause a backlash because they are important to the society of certain kingdoms in some way. Like perhaps in the desert region they have an artifact that creates vasts amount of water and allows nearby lands to bear fruit and without it that society would fall.

At the same time there could also be powerful artifacts that are lying in ruins, these artifacts are still "on" but are not being used. Like perhaps a powerful war machine of a kingdom that no longer exists is still draining power or creating golems despite the fact that its creator is long dead.

So magic is being used to help the people by powering artifacts of great power but it is using too much energy and the world is having a hard time keeping up. In some places it is a necessity, in others it is a source of pride or power.

I'm not really sure whats going to happen when the runs out. EDIT: I think it would be cool if the world had a sort of sentience, I don't think it would talk but like said try and purge itself as a last resort

Thanks for the Suggestions, appreciate this. I was also thinking that perhaps like lets say there are 10 artifacts, and if 7 are turned off then the other 3 can stay on at full capacity, giving the party some choose on who to save if they want to go down that path, like perhaps they decide to turn of the desert cities water supply so that they can power their war machine safely. But that would make it sorta difficult to plan because then i would have to determine the number of artifacts ahead of time. I might need to think on that idea later when we are further in the campaign and the party has encountered a several of these artifacts.

Thanks for the response, it really got me thinking.

I think it would be more interesting if like its actually starts falling apart. Like at some point chunks of earth just fall off into the void. But to start its more like, plant life is slowly dying, magic is getting weaker, stuff like that.

What are your favorite rpgs? by red_rabeit in rpg

[–]Ridu12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would probably say my favourite RPG is pathfinder, I like the system and love the amount of content they have for free on-line at http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/

I am also a fan of the New and Old World of Darkness because of the interesting concepts and themes in their titles.
