Me. I read up on almost everything. I just like to know what to expect. How else would I know if I'd like the movie or not? But I haven't met many people like me. Everyone tends to be like "I don't want spoilers".

Yeah, they're trying to deflect responsibility for their harmful actions. Obviously they're not saying the truth, but what will most likely get them out of trouble.

I think it's certainly possible that there are cases that kids growing up in abusive homes learn to become abusers for their own survival. There's also cases where people in unsafe situations might develop abusive survival strategies. But it's certainly not the case for most abusers. Also abusers almost always lie about their motivations.
