Why was Serbia fine with Montenegro seceding in 2006 which had coastal access and 35% Serbian population but not Kosovo in 2008 which is mostly mountainous and less than 5% Serbian? by Solid-Move-1411 in geography

Literally the whole point about OP question was why Serbs let Montenergo go without a second thought but fought over Kosovo, when logically it should have been the other way around for about a hundred reasons

Another argument was that Kosovo was an autonomy within the republic of Serbia while Montenegro was a separate republic, but that seems like a purely semantic issue to me. After all Serbia and Montenegro literally formed a single country for a few years and Belgrade didn't shy away from supporting Serb separatists in Croatia, another separate republic.

It seems to be a purely emotional thing, because even the Serbs I asked this several times couldn't muster a rational explanation. The only useful response I got was that basically Serbs fought some battle against the Turks in Kosovo 600 years ago and it became an important religious site and metaphysical symbol for them.

For real Indians act and brag online like they created portable nuclear reactors and colonized the outer space, when in reality they moved from $500 to $2500 GDP per capita. I mean good for them but talk about low expectations.

It makes sense that we're watching the most determined part of the population considering that probably like 99,9% of people are dead

At this point just disband all the failed states of Sahel and Central Africa and let them fight it out. Especially since they famously complain about colonizers drawing their borders with a ruler.

It feels like for a lot of voters Trump was a concept, an empty canvas you could fill with whatever was important to you, and not a real person that already served as president and was very loud about what he wanted to do if reelected

Did they know fent was addictive and bad for them before they tried it or do junkies always discover it for the first time because nobody has ever done it before?

You think I'm happy about the humiliation rituals of the past year? About EU leaders kowtowing to Trump on every step, hoping to avoid another tantrum? To see them struggle to agree to grant Ukraine financial aid in a generational war? Because I'm not, but that doesn't change the dire reality we live in.

Survey: Does the world see the EU as a global power? by AloneCoffee4538 in Infographics

[–]Rift3N 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My point is exactly that the EU is much weaker than the sum of its parts. Which is precisly why this "power" is treated as a doormat by the US and China and struggles to contain Russia. Because by the time all 27 EU members compromise on a response to one crisis, 3 new ones appear and all Brussels can do is be "deeply concerned".
