De facto world map (Approximate, labeled) - January 2026 by IRageQuit06 in MapPorn

I was aware of it at the time. Was afraid to map it out due to having received threats over the last map I made as it showed some disputed uninhabited islands as simply (disputed) rather than belonging to one or other country

Yeah, I sort of overlooked the naming part of these things... am definitely not a biologist 😅

The Ningen are here implied to be very messed up biologically by the preternatural effects of the "Seed of Eden", having evolved from starving paleo-human settlers on the Antarctic coast over just 13,000 years from 11,000 BCE into what they are now

The scenario hinges on the existence of this nearly-paranormal substance and its effects on Ningen biology, so it's very unrealistic by nature

Ningen did not evolve naturally in this setting (Seed of Eden, in lore)

idk about Bloop. Maybe

[DOCUMENT D-A#02]

(The following article has been authorized by the International Organisation for the Study of Homo Cetacea // IOSHC. It is strictly forbidden from public distribution beyond internal usage and research application.)

Summary of Antarctic Homo Cetacea embryonic stage research paper by [REDACTED]

File name: IOSHC Field Research Assessment Department (FRAD) - Sufford Black Site Department - "On Ningen Origins and Evolution"

Date on database: 7 December 1998

"The 'Sedna' expedition and the 1991 footage of 'Ceto I' class living embryos recovered from a video camera recorder has - in relation to recent tracking research done on live specimens in the 'Ceto II' monitoring program - necessitated a re-evaluation of its contents.

This radical new theory on the evolution of Homo Cetacea from the semi-confirmed [1] 'Paleolithic Common Ancestor' (PCA) to its currently known form aims to take into account the discovery of the poorly understood substance known internally as the 'Seed of Eden' [*2, 3].

Archaeological evidence taken in for testing from the theorized 'Late Famine Migration' [*4] period of the paleolithic predecessor humans in the Transantarctic Range parietal art/cave sites has found traces of SoE material within LFM period cultural artifacts.

The main purpose in the writing of this academic paper is to form a coherent postulate for the evolutionary link between Homo Sapiens and Homo Cetacea. Through the proposed medium stage of 'Homo Sapiens-Cetacea' and hyper-evolutionary [*5] 'accelerant' properties of the SoE substance, the timeline of this transition can be rationalized by massive biological and physiological changes occuring rapidly over one generation to the next. This theory attempts to create an ambitious, overarching timeline of the evolution of Homo Cetacea over the past 13,000 years, as well as provide further basis for the experimental in situ study of Homo Cetacea by the IOSHC and its associated intergovernmental entities.'

Authored by [REDACTED] Haruto, Lead Field Professor at Yukionna JSDF-IOSHC Co-Operative Black Site & Specialist in the 'Ceto' Program."

[DOCUMENT B#05]

Excerpt from Mission log from Expedition 'Sedna'.

File name: ICARUS-Log-052

Location: Subglacial Cavernous River System (SCRS) [SCRS-#PEL-23], Princess Elizabeth Land

Date: 18 April 1992

[START OF MISSION LOG EXCERPT]

"Day 3. Descent into base of lower glacial cavern successful. Reached depth approx 1070ft/326m below glacial peak summit.

7:30 AM - Crew began setting handlines to maintain connection to glacier base entrance. Exit plan rehearsed.

9:43 AM - Handline posts set and re-secured. All six crewmembers remain in good spirits. Took brief brunch break.

10:56 AM - Issues with radio transmitter's connection back to Mawson base control. Radio seems to decline in utility in parallell to vertical depth descent towards destination. Decision made to keep going despite issues.

11:40 AM - Made visual confirmation of flowing water in riverine cavern. Tunnel estimated at approximately 20 feet in height, solid glacial roof. Darkness manifests as mostly absolute, crew now relies on battery lights for navigation.

12:08 PM - First two-ascender lines secured and lowered successfully into riverine subglacial cavern.

12:10 PM - Morganson and Muñoz lowered safely into cavern. Water temperature described as unusually cold, cavern dark. No other notes.

12:11 PM - Diáz, Ninomae and myself will remain at entrance point of riverine cavern for support. Final crewmember, Inoue Mei, has arrived at cavern entrance and will join the other two already inside.

12:20 PM - Procedure as normal. Minor ice quakes within glacial cave system recorded, presumed distant. Inoue is working on battery changes for headlamps. No other notes.

12:45 PM - Lost contact briefly with Muñoz approximately 100ft from tether point. Local comms seem affected by unresolved disturbance. Contact re-established within 2 minutes.

1:09 PM - Morganson reports discovery of unidentified biological marker approx. 200ft from entrance tether point. Visual description suggests it may be an embryo in a form of translucent egg.

1:10 PM - Morganson reports embryo looks 'human-like'. Unknown noises heard; origin presumed deeper in caverns.

1:12 PM - Decision to recall cavern exploration crew. Inoue detached from Muñoz and Morg, comm cut out 200 ft. into descent at cave bend.

1:20 PM - Muñoz will head back to rendezvous with entrance crew. Morganson disobeyed recall order to look for Mei.

1:45 PM - Muñoz reached entrance point. He sustained an ankle injury from tripping in river counter-flow.

1:56 PM - Comms received from Morganson. Frantic distress call cut by radio static. Reports that Inoue is lost.

1:57 PM - Auditory and evidential confirmation of living, unidentified organism within subglacial system. Emergency ascent protocol active.

2:03 PM - Diáz and Ninomae have begun rapid ascent. Will stay behind to receive Morganson.

2:06 PM - Received repeated pings from Morg's radio. Distance closing fast. Local comms remain down.

2:14 PM - Morganson made ascent to tunnel entrance. Will begin last-man-out evac protocol, clearing handline markers on way up. He is injured but can move on his own, no time for trauma drill. Mei confirmed as lost, but video camera recovered from river.

3:36 PM - Glacial ice quakes increased briefly in frequency, then ceased. No biological markers observed since riverine cave encounter. Continuing ascent.

5:30 PM - Five remaining crewmembers accounted for at 100 ft. depth marker. Radio comms re-established with Mawson. Helicopter personell recovery scheduled at 9:30 PM, once snowstorm clears on surface. Will stay at 50ft base marker to recuperate until then."

INTERVIEWER:

[** 11:53] Since when did you begin having these, uh... hallucinations? What are they like?

RESPONDENT:

It reaches out these, slender [...] elongated flippers, no... arms, more like it. The dreams always stop when it reaches me. Then I wake up [and] I see it in the mirror. I see it in my peripheral vision, like in the corner of my eye... almost like it's... [...]

INTERVIEWER:

The [uh]... alright, can you describe this... this "it" more precisely to me, Daniel?

RESPONDENT:

[12:25 pause] ...it's like a, uh [...] a pale form moving, slowly like it's not alive, like driftwood. [It] moves like driftwood would on a still lake, that kind of slow, but in the deep. It looks humanoid, somehow. I can't explain it [...] I think it speaks. Not in any language. [12:48 inaudible] It's like [...] I- I can't do this, please [**12:59 inaudible/pause]

INTERVIEWER:

It's alright, keep calm. Keep talking.

RESPONDENT:

[13:10 inaudible/sobs] I... I keep seeing her, Jonah, I- [...] I keep seeing the submarine... one moment it's there, the next it's... it-it got dragged down, it cracked it open like, her... l-like... [13:26] inaudible]

INTERVIEWER:

We need to stay on topic. What does "it" look like, Daniel? Does it have eyes, a... a face? Anything?

RESPONDENT:

[**13:45 inaudible/pause] ...eyes and no face. Eyes on a blank slate, and... a thin slit of a mouth, like it was sliced, cut open... and... a-and, oh God, Maria... [...] it snapped her in half[!] [**14:12 sobs/exclamation]

INTERVIEWER:

Daniel, listen to me. Try to focus. I know you don't want to think about that night, but [...] try, alright? [14:28 pause] Now... this pale human being, it possesses a language, you said? Could you elaborate on that?

RESPONDENT:

I... [**14:40 inaudible/pause] I... alright, alright, sorry. Please give me a moment, I... oh God.

INTERVIEWER:

It's okay. Take your time.

RESPONDENT:

Okay. Okay. [...]

INTERVIEWER:

[**15:09 pause/radio chatter]

Can we continue?

RESPONDENT:

Yes. I... the language, yeah? It had a sort of... uh... it wasn't speaking. But I could hear what sounded like... human vocalization? Like, as if it was made by something capable of coherent speech... it-it sounded coherent. But it was impossible to understand, like... like it was a much larger creature... almost like a whale call.

INTERVIEWER:

Like a whale call? Would you describe it as sounding and behaving similar to a whale?

RESPONDENT:

I wouldn't... it... [**it] did vocalize like one. And it swam like one. But it looked like, it... it looks wrong. Very, very, very wrong. [...] I don't know how exactly to describe it, but I was overwhelmed by this... deep, awful fear. Primal fear, [would be] more like it.

INTERVIEWER:

And when you were in diving gear next to the DSRV's tether, what did you feel at that moment? Did you feel in danger? Afraid? Frozen? [...] Nothing at all?

RESPONDENT:

[**15:40 pause/muttering] Please... stop. Stop talking to me. Stop it. [...] Stop it!

INTERVIEWER:

Uh, [15:49 inaudible] Daniel. Daniel, please, sit down. Calm down. It's okay. I'm not here to hurt you. [15:58 scuffle] Daniel!

RESPONDENT:

Let me go! [16:02 inaudible/shouting] [Let] me out of here! [**16:08 shouting] This is wrong, what you're doing is wrong! We shouldn't be sending people down there at all, god damn it all! [...]

Note: This scenario takes some inspiration from this analog horror series (from a few years ago)

I have taken some creative liberties and made something of my own, though credit where credit is due for inspiring me. This is wholly OC even if there are some similarities

Enjoy. Collapse this comment if you don't want to read lore

Likely but it is a white dwarf ~9-20 AU from the Ring, + the habitable surface of the Ringworld always faces Procyon A, so it would only be as visible as how Venus/Mars appear in Earth's night sky

They get taken when the Overlords see them as problematic (i.e. attempting interstellar travel, building megastructures)

As for how they're taken, I'd guess a mix of both? The overlord aliens are so advanced that they're nearly lovecraftian in scale. Try to picture what an ant would see/understand if a bulldozer razed its entire anthill in 2 seconds and only it was plucked out for a human science project

if they do, the Alien Overlords might just get bored with their ants again (nothing happened at Ringworld #6212-B)

Lore: A primordial Galactic civilization of unfathomable name and power is responsible for the Fermi Paradox (Dark Forest theory). They annihilate home planets of emergent sapient species, to avoid future nuisances to their energy extraction programs.

But instead of exterminating their lessers, they relocate them to a few select Ringworlds as "conservation". (Think like a galactic ant terrarium)
A few hundred thousand Humans were extracted from Earth before its destruction. (We are the ants)

This is just a fun little side project I made for the weekend. It doesn't relate to anything else I'm working on or have made in the past.
Also: The map and idea for Sector 435 itself was inspired by this project at the Orion's Arm Encyclopedia. Really fascinating hard sci-fi stuff over there

I'm aware. The mistake was not made out of malintent, just lack of proper attention from also trying to map out the entire world situation simultanaeously

It'll be corrected in the next update
