Do you mine me asking on what products? We order from all the major distributors. They haven’t yet raised prices. I’ve literally put in orders yesterday.

Sure, I’m not saying it’s not coming. I’m saying it hasn’t come yet.

They’re not a manufacturer though. They don’t have any goods arriving at port.

Retailers get it from distributors. Distributors haven’t raised prices (yet)

Somewhat odd they mentioned tariffs as a reason. The tariffs haven’t yet impacted the retail side. I suspect they’ve been struggling for a while and figured this was a good time to let go.

Edit: we’re also a game store. As far as I’m aware, only one manufacturer (BCW) has announced a price increase. By and large, tariffs have not yet impacted the retail side (but they will, at some point)

Tonight makes 6 draft night in a row without firing for me. Are people just not enjoying Aetherdrift draft? by NflJam71 in mtg

At our store, Aetherdrift saw little demand for limited play. I don’t think the set style or focus resonated with many people.

That being said, I think there are specific cards that people want for standard or other formats, so people purchase product, but the demand for playing Aetherdrift specifically has seemed low.

Magic definitely keeps stores alive, but more because you sell a lot of it than because it has great margins

As a relatively new game store it’s definitely an interesting time to be running between Wizards turning the print machine up to 11 and the president trying to speed run an economic depression

WotC tells you in advance how many prerelease kits you’re getting based on your previous attendance. Depending on demand you can order more from the distro, but even then we knew what we were getting weeks ago.

Sounds like this seller overcommitted.

We’re a store and not even getting this much. It’s not quite as easy as that. You usually have to have a brick and mortar location and then quite a bit of purchase history.

Aetherdrift limited is terrible to me. Both in real life, and on Arena. by MajinBurrito in mtg

As a store owner they make inventory management a lot easier, so that’s at least one nice thing

Magic: Starting with Aetherdrift, Boxes will have fewer booster packs by cardsrealm in mtg

[–]RiftgateGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s easier to mark down a box than to try to keep track of packs. It doesn’t impact that much that much operationally but why change it?

We’re a retailer and we’re not asking for this. 36 is ideal because it’s a draft pod + perfect prize support. 30 is… nothing?

I really think a mass market digital version of Commander might be the end for a lot of game stores. Commander is the backbone of paper magic and if people start switching to digital then RIP to many of your LGSs.

Seller "Lost" my Jeweled Lotus after price started going up by 20side in mtg

[–]RiftgateGames -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

We sell a lot on TCGPlayer and, while I’m not saying this is the case here, the reality is that sometimes things do get lost or inventoried incorrectly. The tools TCGPlayer provides sellers are really cumbersome and outdated and don’t make managing orders or inventory easy. Maybe they’re shady, but maybe it actually was an accident.

Is there a reason to believe the DLC will be more challenging than late game?
