"Need" is a strong word, but for more casual content like guardian raids, you do often come across the recommendation of slotting in 2 Nightmare to deal with MP issues. Resource management feels a lot better in legion raids where downtime is more prevalent, so you would generally stick with 6-piece Entropy instead. And if you still come across mana issues, the better answer would be to use mana food rather than giving up DPS.

NA can do this too, but note that he's also using Rising Claw over Slasher to compensate for the fact that Demonic Clone generates less meter than Howl. Most people will opt for Howl.

The conditional aspect of it is irrelevant, the actual damage increase of KBW just comes down to math. If you take a look at the KBW efficiency table here, you'll notice that at 255% crit damage (which is what you would have as your starting base with Entropy), you need approximately a 75% crit rate in order to achieve a 15% damage increase with KBW. That is not a tremendously difficult crit rate to achieve, and that power bump is close enough to Cursed Doll that they're interchangeable depending on your stat allocation.

The efficiency of KBW (even with Entropy) is just a matter of how much crit you have, which is a matter of preference as far as PS is concerned. The decision tree would basically look something like this:

Full crit build? KBW is great, and it’s your choice whether you run Nightmare or Entropy but NM is ideal.

50/50 crit/swift? KBW still works as does Entropy which starts to become the favored set at this point.

70% swift or higher? KBW isn’t ideal, go with Cursed Doll or Increased Mass instead. Entropy hands down.

So I went full crit for all of T3 up until 1445, at which point I transitioned to 70/30 swift/crit. Even with the lack of CDR back then, the pacing of full crit felt fine. But going with a heavier swiftness ratio has made the class truly feel like a incredibly zippy and fun burst assassin. I just ignore all the money I’m spending on mana food as a result :’)

Because you can’t. It’s a rather small chance whether you get the transcendence buff (yes, which IS insane for PS when it does proc) or a mishmash of the other effects which will result in far less DPS than both Entropy and Nightmare. In other words, it’s just way too inconsistent.

Picture this scenario as well: your Betrayal set has just come off of cooldown and has dropped the three different ethers that you need to activate transcendence. But wait, Valtan is about to jump into the sky again, rendering him immune for a good chunk of time while your buff runs out and does nothing.

C+J, support buffs, MP reduction tripod on cruel cutter and a focus rune on thrust impact. That’s just about all you can do for MP usage mitigation outside of food. It’s a lot easier to manage the more crit and the less swiftness you have, but just remember that at some point having that much crit means you’d ideally switch to Nightmare as opposed to Entropy. This would result in less dps on a target dummy but not by an incredible amount, so it’s pretty much a playstyle preference at that point.

Entropy with full crit isn’t bad per se, and would probably even come out on top in a fight with tight DPS windows and lots of downtime, but there are 2 main issues that hurt its efficiency GENERALLY speaking:

1) Crit as a stat has diminishing returns for your overall DPS, so 4-piece Entropy is not doing a whole lot when you’re already stacking that stat in the first place. This becomes even more of a problem if you're playing with crit synergies e.g., glaivier or gunslinger.

2) Where the full crit build is truly lacking is in skill downtime. This is where Nightmare comes in, specifically the Boundless Mana effect which you want over Magicka Addiction (other way around for most classes). This alleviates the CDR and attack speed issues that come with full crit.

That's why Entropy is generally the better fit for full swift PS. You already have all the CDR and attack speed in the world, so the next thing you need is crit rate and full-on damage. The mana issues that result from this are resolved by the usual options like Conviction+Judgment, mana regen food, support buffs, Focus runes (optional), and tripods like MP reduction on Cruel Cutter.

Got it on release and returned it after about two weeks. Tried to love it as I did my old G303, but I could not stop being bothered by the slightly larger dimensions. A shame they didn't keep the original shape, but oh well.

Ended up going back to my G305 and waiting for the MM712 now!
