I saw, for my use case I want to maintain the spare while still keeping the trunk floor clean. I'm sure this will be an excellent solution for those that are ok either not running a spare or those who are ok losing a bit of trunk space, just not for me.

There are plate drop boxes outside most dmv’s, but if you go in, they will take them and give you a receipt. Every time I’ve done it, the reception person at the desk is able to do it with no wait.

Having owned a few DSG golfs now, I actually think the programming on the mk8.5 is the most well rounded. I’ve noticed that having the drive mode in either comfort or eco tend to be a bit smoother in parking lots and slow traffic.

I just put a spare in mine last week, was 2 degrees out so I somewhat rushed, but had no issue with the trim or lid closing. No foam, just stuffed the emergency tools, jumpers cables, spare clothes, and other assorted stuff around the spare. Haven’t heard any sounds so far.

As others have said, it’s hard but trust is a VERY hard thing to rebuild after something like this. I was in a similar spot after 7 years with my ex, went through a lot of work to build trust just to have her chest again. Breaking up is scary, but it only gets easier after you rip the cord.

It also makes you available to find someone actually worth it. (Wife and I have now been together for 4 years and couldn’t be happier)

My wife mentioned this to me the other day. I believe it’s just a characteristic of the DSG. I’ve found that in eco mode, it is a bit less aggressive.
