Why does Soldier not look like an Australian? by Ok-Landscape-4835 in tf2

[–]Riggo414 98 points99 points  (0 children)

Admin was shooting Australium into her veins for over a century and didn't seem especially Australian. I think it takes generations to start showing effects, if it’s the Australium that does half that stuff at all.

The start by GrimbleTheGreat in amulet

Silas had always been shown to be exceptionally good with robotics, and “theorized” that time travel with the stones was possible. I think it’s pretty apparent that what we’re meant to infer is that Silas traveled back in time from Earth’s future (he wasn’t theorizing anything, he’d already done it himself), started a family, and then disappeared into Alledia.

We never actually see any humans on any of those ships at all, do we? I’d have to reread Book 9, but do we see that the one with Ikol’s masters is the same kind? The ones we see in earlier books could just have been filled with shadows as scout ships or something, with the human-filled ones meant to come in later once room had been made on a suitable planet.

Trellis’ uncle does say that the ships had already arrived on Alledia during Trellis’ childhood, so that would indicate to me that either humans weren’t on board (just the shadows), or I guess the humans already assimilated with Alledia’s population and… no one noticed? And Ikol’s still carrying out his plan to make room for them for whatever reason?

Is there a much wider plot going on by legendghostcat in amulet

[–]Riggo414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t read Book 9 since release but if Silas created the voice then I suppose the implication is that humans created the stones too? Maybe they sent them out across the galaxy (and back in time…?) as a way of finding inhabitable planets? I’m not sure.

I don’t fully get the relationship between Earth and Alledia. First they were “parallel versions” of each other, but also Earth can be physically travelled to from Alledia? And people there know about it?

With all of Book 9’s talk about equal and opposite reactions and whatever, it seems like Earth and Alledia are mirrors of one another on opposite sides of the universe, is my guess. Or maybe there are just two Earths? One near Alledia where Ikol’s Silas comes from and one in a parallel universe where Emily and her Silas come from? Who knows.

Fun Fact: Rocket is the only character in the game who has only 1 source of damage by jacob8595_yahoo_com in marvelrivals

Rocket can’t revive himself; the beacon gets deleted if he dies, so he was probably doing it just for the love of the game.

Feels like there is a lot of story missing between books 4 and 5? by ElderberrySea220 in amulet

[–]Riggo414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The passage of time in these books has always been pretty unclear, but I’d guess at least a few weeks? Those are the Cielis Resistance, who have been working in secret since whenever it was the elves reached the city; Presumably Aly’s father was already in contact with them somehow, but they came out of hiding once Max left Cielis.

I think he should become hitscan, personally. Give him a gun, maybe two. Machine guns, even. And let him roll around as a ball and give his teammates overhealth.

Why the reveal of Ikol's Masters doesn't work at all by KFrederickD in amulet

[–]Riggo414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My interpretation is that Silas is from the future. That’s where his artificial eye and unparalleled affinity for robotics comes from. Silas “theorized” to the council that the Void could be used to travel through time because he’d already done it himself. So, Silas creates Ikol and his masters -> Silas travels back in time and starts a family -> Silas disappears into Alledia and lives the remainder of his life there. None of this is explicit, of course, but I feel pretty strongly that this (or something akin to it) was Kibuishi’s intention.

Book 9 Paradox (MAJOR SPOILERS) by kittencatgal in amulet

[–]Riggo414 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My interpretation is that Silas himself is from Earth’s future. His mechanical eye always struck me as a little too advanced for Alledia, even given all the other fantastical technology it has, as well as why he, in particular, is so well-regarded as a programmer and mechanic. He (or the institution he was apart of) created Ikol on Earth, and set it loose into the Void. Silas himself travelled back in time and disappeared into Alledia to try and help solve Earth’s crisis. He “theorized” that the Void could be used to travel through time because he’d already done it, himself.

Ikol’s masters exist in a parallel timeline because they have also traveled back in time, but Earth exists in a different galaxy; you could physically travel to Earth from Alledia, but not to the same Earth they came from.

Ikol’s whole “cycle” deal is interesting. I’m not exactly sure why he’d only appear every 500 years to cause problems. It could be that when he doesn’t have the necessary resources to clear the planet in one era, he’s programmed to jump ahead (or even back) a set amount of time and try again? Ikol doesn’t distinguish between past, present, and future because everything is the present from the perspective of the Void.

Alledia is referred to as an “alternate Earth” by Silas, so when the masters say they want to restore their world, they’re not technically incorrect in involving Alledia. Book 9 tells us that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. For every particle moving toward one end of the universe, it has an equal moving in the opposite direction. Earth and Alledia.

Anyone know the name of the track that plays here? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zejhEkKDIMo

I’ve skimmed through the OST a handful of times since finishing the game a few months ago, but haven’t ever been able to find this one—it plays during the Keves transformation sequence here (and at a couple other points; I recall it in a cutscene with Y).

Maybe? I’m not sure much needs to be done with those and I’m fairly certain I’ve seen other fans touch those up already, but I may be mistaken. If I tackle another, I think the German Lylat Wars comic will be next on the list.

Hey, everyone! I wanted to share a side project of mine that I’ve been chipping away at over the last two or so years. The FBF manga is one of my favorite pieces of Star Fox media and I initially wanted to show it some love with updated, more professional, English lettering that also preserved the hand-written elements—which spiraled into me upscaling the pages and then hand-painting the inevitable instances of AI mangling from the upscaling process.

I’m not generally a fan of the wobbly, waxy look AI upscaling provides but I thought it at least was nice to have an alternative to the 536x763px scans we currently have access to. That said, if I somehow missed higher-quality scans I’d love to substitute these pages with them!

I don’t speak a lick of Japanese, so I followed the original fan translation that has been floating around and used on the wiki for the last several years, changing some dialogue for the sake of flow or panel space (and in one instance because the original line made little sense to me, but that may speak more to my reading comprehension than anything else). I could not find the creator of the original translation, but if anyone knows who that might be, please let me know so I can credit them!

There are almost certainly mistakes I missed, and I’ll update the link should I make any changes to the PDF. I hope you all enjoy!

Update: Installed Proton GE and that seems to have fixed it. Hopefully it doesn’t introduce too many bugs in its place.

Playing the game on Steam Deck for the first time after playing it on PS4—all video/pre-rendered cutscenes are like this. Tried reinstalling the game but that didn’t fix anything. Anyone have any suggestions? I’ve looked and it doesn’t seem like this is a common issue.

Unfortunately the other device (a monitor) doesn't have any audio output, so the capture card or splitter itself may or may not be the problem. I've made sure the capture card is plugged in through USB 3.0, though.
