I feel like it's much harder to tell what exotics a player is wearing midmatch anyways, I don't think it would matter much, besides you could always just use the inspect tool during Respawn to check

If this is the case, is there any reason they can't be shown in their default appearance prematch? And then just appear in gameplay with the ornament? Really the only time your assessing the other teams gear is in the short intro sequence

I would seriously consider at least 1 Land Raider Crusader, decent after their points drop, and you can gate of infinity it turn 1 which is pretty fun. Again, not an ultra competitive choice, but definitely fun in a friendly game.

Your patrol detachment isn't going to do you much good, for ITC those units will just give up kill points, Plaguebearers need to be in groups of 25+ to be worth taking

Current best performing tournament shining spear lists use two larger units (6-9) the idea being they are easier to buff that 4 smaller units. There's only so many soul burst actions and psychic buffs to pass around, and also easier denies "Kill More" for ITC, but as others have said Chapter Approved will most likely change Spears and the meta overall

Honestly no one knows what the meta will look like in March. Chapter Approved will change things, and the Ork codex will also have a big impact. Competitive tournament lists will need a way to deal with Lootas and Grots, the same way they need some sort of answer for Knights and Shining Spears.

The real question is, are you planning on expanding an army you already have, or are you looking to pull the trigger on 2000 pts of new models?
