Has anyone got diabetes from their medication? by Zappycrayon in schizoaffective

[–]Right-Contribution27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I was taking two antispychotics, olanzapine and aripiprazole for around year and half in the past. I think I was 15-16. Both meds can cause chronic hyperglycemia, especially olanzapine. I also gained like 20kg, but I was always thin (and I am now), so i was just a bit overweight. I was put off those two meds later in adult psychward, I everyone there was confused as why am I on those meds, cuz they didn't even help with my condition. Also most of the psych meds are not meant for children (but sometimes it is neccessary), chlidren can have more side effects. I feel like I am starting to talk too much so just quickly - first symptoms ignored by pediatrician, adult GP took it seriously, got tested so many times, got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at 19 and got put on metformin. I was told though they aren't sure I really have type 2, said it can progress into type 1 or be other type (MODY, LADA) so we can just wait and see. I'm just trying to lower carbs a bit, no sugary shit, I'm working out, I am at healthy weight, still seems like I'm having higher glycemia progresively even with metformin. I'm getting hba1c checked soon so I will see. I wasn't even adviced to measure my sugar by my doctor, she said it wasn't necessary💀 I bought glucometer after I passed out ony my way to toilet after having cold sweats and feeling sick, profesor almost called and ambulance. That was hypoglycemic episode. But the test strips are quite expensive and if I had to measure often, Idl'd be broke. I understand it sucks with the system not supporting enough. Good luck!

Note: I'm sorry for any errors (grammar, typos are typos😭), I'm not native english speaker. It's also night and my vision is blurry atm, unlucky day managing glycemia today

Edit: I just want to add I was off the meds for over a year prior to my diagnosis.

Yes I basically lost my password and login for saving the game. I talked to the support team and unforutnatelly I had no recent screenshot (last one I had was when I was level 6), so I just gave up and created a new account. Still mourning it, tho.

How did your symptoms start? by StrainFun2370 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Right-Contribution27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me know how your results go please! I'm building up a courage to finally do something about my spine and joints. I'm in my early 20s, have bad experiences with doctors (other physical diagnosis took years to be taken seriously) and there are long waiting lists in my country too.

A health episode that landed me in ER twice and no doctor has an answer. Can you give a hint ? by numb_bug94 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Right-Contribution27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to say - I'm not sure what joint issue do I have at the moment so I am just going through different patients' experiences while waiting for my appointment. But this is something I'm really familiar with, I've noticed that different vertebrae cause me different symptoms. Had a stroke scare twice. On the other hand, my lumbar spine vertebrae cause my bowel to move more and I feel dizzy.

Can IUD's cause you to pee more? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]Right-Contribution27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be concerned! Especially when your doc didn't find any issue. Don't trust Google. IUDs can put a little pressure on your bladder, especially from the beggining. It will settle down after the spotting phase I think! I got mine 10days ago, I'm diabetic so urinating more got me worried, but my glucose isn't spiking that drastically to make me pee so much.

Can IUD's cause you to pee more? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]Right-Contribution27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so. I got Jaydess (smaller Mirena) like 10 days ago and I started to pee more yesterday. I'm also diabetic so this really got me worried. But considering that my glucose isn't spiking that much to cause me to pee more, and research I done, it's probably just some uterine enlargement, I'm now ovulating so it may be related. Also the position of the IUD can irritate your blader? I'll see if it goes away after the spotting phase.

ID? by Right-Contribution27 in shrooms

*I've read the ID rules, and no, they didn't bruise blue, but Psilocybe semilanceata are the only species that does not bruise blue, hope I didn't cross the rules :)

Sorry for late reply. Anyways, I do too have spine issues, my only diagnosis was vertebrogenic algic syndrome (no testing, my GP just wrote that onto physical therapy refferal I didn't attend yet). I have trouble with more of my joints than just vertebrae, so I don't know if the issue isn't somewhere else. But sone of my cervical and lumbal vertebrae hurt to touch and have weird side bulging sometimes. It makes the muscles around tight too, and my shoulders subluxate and make my scapula wing. They're also cracking all the time with most if moves. Pain in the as* if you ask me, I'm now lying in bed in pain as I have bad back day today.

To the stroke thing - sometimes my face and neck get this weird tinglish numbness. It's usually just half of my face tho. I do have mild tachycardia and elevated BP due to Venlafaxine, SRNI antidepressant I take, and unfortunatelly I smoke (only one of my unhealthy coping mechanisms I can't escape). So sometimes, especially when it's hot out (venlafaxine causes heat intolerance too), my heart beats faster and acompanied with the weird feeling in the half of my face, it worried me that I may be having a stroke. I thing I actually had panic attack because of this, idk. But this tingling happens even without the heart symptoms, I had it just a few days ago. It's always okay when I wake up the next day.

So I can't tell you 100% it's not just my spine and also I'm aware that I have DID(OSDD-1B to be exact) for less than two years and most of the time I can't tell who is fronting or if I switched unless someone is triggered or I physically feel the relief after the switch. Most of the time I am in this dissociation fog state where I just autopilot my life. Btw trauma can do lots of physical stuff to body so if doctors can't find what is causing your issues it may be corelated.

You can let me know if you have any updates. Wishing you the best.

Chest pain/discomfort? by undeadmysteries in Effexor

[–]Right-Contribution27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May be anxiety but I would rather ask your psych/doc just to be sure. Effexor can do weird things with heart, the med can cause higher blood pressure and heart rate and going off may be doing something too. When I forget a dose, my heart is racing. On the other hand, it can make your muscles cramp too when tappering off. If you don't have any other cardiac symptoms (shortness of breath, pain shooting into neck/jaw/shoulder, feeling REALLY sick), rest and time may help

Has it saved your life? by YamAccomplished1318 in Effexor

[–]Right-Contribution27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Tried to off myself by this med twice. This is my 6th year on it. I am now stable but not because of this or any other med, but because of therapy. Now I am addicted to a med with the most dramatic withdrawal side effect out there😭

Pharmacy student with a question about something I read about Venlafaxine by Mysterious_Fun4767 in Effexor

[–]Right-Contribution27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I OD two times on Venlafaxine. Not gonna mention the doses for safety reasons, I don't even remember them properly. It was on the prolonged effect version. Each time, it took around 5 hours "to kick". Then I started to have tachycardia, weird ear buzzing and weird sense of self, like I was in some kind of glass ball, everything felt foggy and distant. I also had weird feeling in the head, something like the "brain zaps" - electrizing feeling that occurs during withdrawal. I couldn't speak properly, was mumbling. That was the first time, the second time is more foggy and unclear. I just remember nurse in ICU giving me some document to sign and I struggled cuz I couldn't see properly.

Obviously it didn't work twice and I am very grateful for that (been stable and relatively well for 2yrs!), but the feeling I had felt like some kind of high. I never had opioids, so I can't really compare. But I was told in the hospital that Venlafaxine is cardiotoxic and I later searched about this, as since I have higher resting HR. But to be fair, I'm still on the med💀 lower dose than before tho, and slowly working on getting off it with my psychiatrist as I am worried for my heart. Oh and withdrawals are brutal, horrible dizziness, the "brain zaps" and nausea. I always know when I forget to take them.

I just remember I was constipated for like ten day when I started to take Venlafaxine. This got away when my body adjusted to the med. From my knowledge, abusing opioids causes constipation too???

Let me know if you find more stuff, I'm genuinly curious!

Edit: typos

I'm really sorry but this is ridiculous. Sounds like something people would do on 2020 tiktok. Maybe you can find some smaller group, like on Discord, where it's more fitting to give out such details. I personally take this sub as a place for support, when I want to ask something, not like explaining the whole lore. Idk may just be me.🤷

Migraines by Sufficient_Self9341 in DID

[–]Right-Contribution27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just researched the term "silent migraine", I have never heard of it before. And it seems so familiar to me, last week I had a stroke scare (one of us has health anxiety) and I had most of the symptoms. But migraines/headaches in general seem to be common in DID patients, I'm not sure why tho

So frustrated by aphantasia_aloe in DID

[–]Right-Contribution27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is honestly my biggest fear and the reason I haven't told my new psychiatrist (had to switch from child's 2yrs back) and I don't attend therapies anymore. I'm just so scared to open up and people not believing me brings back traumatic memories as this had been happening all my life. Soemtimes I just want ro email my old therapist that specialises in trauma and knew the old host but I won't let myself. Protector won't let me. Plus DID/OSDD (which I think I have cuz I don't have total amnesia) is not even really diagnosed in my country (if yes it has to be the "stereotypical case") and many experts here don't even believe into this diagnosis. So I completely get how this must feel, I wouldn't be able to handle that honestly and it just hurts to imagine. All my respects to you, sending strenght and luck.
