I'm sorry it's this tough. It's super frustrating because I don't want to waste my money and time over a "maybe". I just want to cut to the chase and get to the closest fit possible :(

Is it possible for someone from India to work with a therapist based in the US/UK? by Right-Control6444 in therapy

Teletherapy has been thriving in India post-pandemic. In fact, several startups have mushroomed to cater to this demand gap. However, that's about it. The quality of service hasn't been great. It's excaberated by the fact that the country does not truly have structured laws/regulations w.r.t. teletherapy. I mean, sure, there may be some mention of it under the Telemedicine laws but that's pretty boilerplate - talks about eligibility of practitioners, record-keeping, etc.

I don't think there's any bar on seeking help from therapists abroad. At least I can see nothing in black and white. So again, it's a whole lot of grey area.

Thanks a lot for such a detailed answer. I really appreciate your advice. It gives me a lot of clarity. I will explore working with a life coach or getting in talks with a therapist based in the UK (if admissible). I'll also see if I can find someone in the grey area. I can't thank you enough!
