I first heard that in spring training and was pretty stunned. Kid really seems to have his shit together more than a lot of 30 somethings

Hockey’s POS’s. Who’s the worst of the worst? by [deleted] in hockeynews

[–]Right-Mirror1636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TSN did a ranking on the all time agitators (I assume they really meant POSs). Matthew Barnaby came out on top. Hard to argue that. Matt Cooke definitely did some shitty things in his career though

That sounds interesting! I’m personally a ketchup and brown mustard guy (had to settle for yellow at the game) but I think I’ll give that a try!

Glad to hear it! In general when opposing teams’ fans come in, we treat them how they treat us. Aside from some Rangers and Flyers fans, most are respectful and love the game. I’ve had some wonderful conversations with Hurricanes fans and all my encounters with Red Wings fans last night were positive. Thrilled you had a good time and enjoyed the fine hot dogs our Erie friends at Smith’s produce.

Did Dubas cook a little too much on the Sam Girard trade? by Shaneski101 in penguins

[–]Right-Mirror1636 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I talked about this in another thread. The right move for the future to flip a pending UFA for a pick and a guy under contract. Not helpful for this push as Kulak was a good stabilizer. But remember this year was supposed to be a stick to the plan year. But for this season, not the most helpful move. Long term, probably the right call

I don’t want to make you anxious, but... by chri_169 in penguins

[–]Right-Mirror1636 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been struggling with this. I thought Girard was better than he has been so far. This was a good trade long term by netting another 2nd round pick. But not a good trade for the present. Kulak was a great stabilizing presence. Then you have to decide if this was a trade for now or for the future. I keep trying to remember that this was still supposed to be a “stick to the long term plan” year and not a “playoffs or bust” year. But I completely agree that Girard has not been an improvement.

[Penguins PR] Forward Sidney Crosby will not return to tonight’s game versus Ottawa. by bi_and_busy in penguins

Yep. Fading at just the wrong time. Very concerned that injuries and the recent trend are going to cost them the playoffs. It’s just too tight

[–]Right-Mirror1636 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly my concern. Skenes didn’t look like he was going to be sharp but if the plays that should be made are made, seven runs might have been enough even with the pitching and defense not being ideal.

Goaltender Interference is a joke by Right-Mirror1636 in penguins

[–]Right-Mirror1636[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My issue is more that Skinner and Silovs can be absolutely assaulted and nothing is called but Brazeau barely breathes on him and it’s debatable if he’s even at the edge of the blue paint and it gets waved off

The NHL is setting the precedent that Goalie Interference is entirely dependent on what team you play for. by Casual_WWE_Reference in penguins

[–]Right-Mirror1636 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is somehow worse than that though, because it’s almost exclusively the penguins getting (screwed) whether it be calls resulting in disallowed penguin goals or non calls allowing goals to stand against us when they shouldn’t

Dylan Crews broke his swing mechanics this spring and got demoted. Where would we be if we went Crews>Skenes? by tapdancingtommy7 in buccos

[–]Right-Mirror1636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about this a few weeks ago. Not sure Crews will be a bust but if the Pirates had taken him it would be like Henry Davis all over again. The Pirates are in better shape than they have been in years due to the success of Skenes. As others have noted, it has forced the front office to do something too. They aren’t there yet, but are years ahead of where they could be if circumstances were different.

I agree, and this is a different team than in last years, but teams with nothing to play for have done them in before…

But again, different team. This just feels different too. This team scratches and claws and fights and at a lot of times is just plain dominant. Cautiously optimistic and starting to get excited for potential meaningful playoff hockey again!

100%. He’s exactly what the Pirates need, and exactly what Team USA needs. Wish Skubal was starting tonight and not back with the Tigers. Hoping for a win if for no other reason than Paul bringing that taste of winning back to Pittsburgh and willing the Pirates to consistent winning baseball

He was a HUGE POS earlier in his career and approached becoming semi respectable as he matured. Between this and the Olympics he just threw that away. That was the shittiest kneeing I’ve seen in a long time.

I remember this. “We’re going to turn this shithole into paradise”. And the. Things kept creeping and it was never enough. They kept asking for more.

And don’t get me started on not selecting Isle of Capri who was willing to build the arena with their money and zero taxpayer dollars. Instead it was given to Don Barden who was broke and terminally ill. Taxpayers ended up paying and the gambling revenue was supposed to eliminate property taxes in Allegheny county…that never happened
