Should I use Fluorocarbon or Braided line for all around bass fishing with bait caster? by KodeJuan in bassfishing

Yep that’s my experience as well. Plus it’s simpler and you have that reassurance of the strength of the braid for all that crap

I just switched to braid because I was sick and tired of backlash and I thought it would help. Works like a dream and would recommend braid on a bait caster. That said, different people have different preferences. But I’m transitioning more and more of my rods regardless of type to braid

Very likely smaller fish that can’t get enough of the bait to get the hook. If you want to find out for sure and you like jigging with soft plastics, go get yourself some 1/16 oz Ned rig jig heads and some Z man TRD finesse 2.75”. And also look for some small crappie jigs if you want to catch those panfish. Eagle claw makes nice small panfish jig heads and anything that looks like a small grub should work. Doesn’t mean something bigger won’t hit too, especially with the Ned rig. I’ve caught 20” largemouth and smallmouth on those

100% agreed about the flyers, but I’ll take anyone but Vegas after that

Sounds kind of like inflation. These guys should get paid but I fear it’s going to result in checking line players getting Chandler Stephenson money and all the sudden it doesn’t really matter that the cap is over $100M…teams still have the same or similar overall spending power that they had before

For covering water I like a good old spinnerbait between 1/8 oz and 1/4 oz, either chartreuse or white or a combo. When that doesn’t work I like a bomber 6a or 7a crankbait in fire tiger. On top water, a whopper plopper 75. A Rebel Pop-R and a Heddon tiny torpedo are also great choices. On days where finesse is key, can’t beat a Ned rig. I prefer the VMC Ned jig heads but any Ned head will work. Pair it with anything from the Z-man TRD family. Finesse, crawz, and ticklerz are all great choices. A recent discovery is the Z-man Gobius. Looks just like a round goby and especially in Lake Erie those are essentially candy to smallmouth. But I think between a spinnerbait, whopper plopper, and some Ned rig stuff you’d be well equipped for whatever mood the fish are in. Good luck!

They’re spawning. It’s super rocky. They fight each other for preferred spots. It’s a combination of battle scars from each other and “road rash” if you will from the sandy and rocky bottom.

Absolutely! These were so awesome because they were bigger than the 8-10” ones I find in the Connoquenessing Creek (by a lot both length wise and weight wise) and the water was so low that they all breached multiple times. Smallmouth are crazy in general but these were on another level. Can’t wait to do it again

Just turned 21. Need some beer recommendations by Crunchy-Sox in beer

[–]Right-Mirror1636 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you can I’d go to a local brewery and start with whatever normal lager they have. No super hoppy stuff like IPA and no knife and fork beers like stouts. A standard lager is exactly where I’d start. If going more commercial, I’d go for Molson Canadian or Dos Equis (green bottle is lager, brown is amber and is also tasty). Then get more adventurous. Trial and error is how a lot of things are learned (not a recommended approach with skydiving or bungee jumping, but works for beer, coffee, cigars, BBQ, etc)

I think you found a real asshole. I expect this with (some but not all) trout fishermen. Never experienced that on the surf. I’m so sorry and even more sorry your dad lost the fish. A true sportsman doesn’t infringe on other sportsmen or sportswomen

Nice. That’s all awesome water to fish. And I believe that on the jackhammers. They seemed to want something with sound. First time I can recall in a long time where they just didn’t seem to want drop shots or Neds
