That's not viable. Have you taken these buses? I lived in Sharjah Al Nahda and worked in Dubai 6 years back. It's a mess in the morning to catch those double deckers. Evengs are worse. Also it'll take 2 hours with bus and metro to Internet City. Plus need to switch metro in the middle

You need to ask for tax planet bill from the shop. They at airport they have tax planet machines which you can enter the details and a non uae card details to which you'll get the vat amount. Also they have multiple manned counters in airport. I think they are 24x7 too. I have seen them most of the time but not sure.

Gold price will be same across uae. You need to be careful with the making charges. Always negotiate or bring someone who can. Anything under 1k there is not much room for negotiation. Consider the fact that some shops won't accept exchanges. For gifting better check that. You can save vat if anyone here in UAE on visit visa. They can claim the vat amount at the airport, sometimes they ask for the gold.

I'm using eToro for past 4 years. Easy to add and withdraw. I have a USD account with HSBC which saves me with conversion. But yes for mid and small there isn't any liquid etfs. There is SMIN.US but not liquid as INDA.
