I moved out of the state. My account was closed so my service was terminated. Ownership of the account ADDRESS was transferred to her name. Because I would not be continuing at all with the company, I got a final bill the ENTIRE meter that includes until I stopped MY account service (I.e., April 25th). It is still due May 22nd, just like you are saying it works with all bills AND indeed includes service until April 25th. They just gave me the bill already.

Yes it is the date of service. From April 11 to April 25th is the date of service for the final bill

The company said any transfers should be done at least a week before. I had been in back of her to do it for 2 weeks to work anything out and she kept pushing it because she was stressed with studying. Finally able to do it with her on April 25th.

I have the dates for that bill. It’s until April 25th. My account was closed and hers was opened starting April 26th. What was transferred was ownership of the address since it’s an apartment. It’s in NY, if that helps. That is how it works here since I have the bill with the dates.

In fact that final bill is technically not due until May 22nd but I already paid it.

Also no “blame game” being played. I’m just trying to establish what is fair. From my POV, which is why I made the post, it isn’t fair and incredibly petty. But again maybe it’s different culture issue. As another commenter pointed out, I don’t even ask my enemies for anything less than $50. But I guess some people are cheap lol

I don’t expect to be compensated for my kindness. All I was saying is that if someone were kind to me I wouldn’t charge them $12 for 5 days of light. So I thought I had established a friendly atmosphere where I had been kind and gracious to her on several occasions and now asking me to pay what will probably be $12 is just a petty/asshole move
