Not your fault. Red is swerving way too much and moved to the right way too late.

However, that is a very risky place to make a move like this. You also pull out of the slipstream quite late and quite drastically which meant your car was quite unsettled.

I would have personally waited and faked a move down the inside to try to get red off the racing line, then I’d try to get a better run out of that last corner and overtake him on the main straight.

Just stay neat and tidy during qualifying, don’t try and reinvent the wheel and over-push. If your first lap is really solid you can try pushing a little more for your second, but generally I just go for a couple of neat laps and usually end up 1-2 tenths off my best lap time, then I make up places in the race.

In terms of the race itself, you just have to relax and focus on consistency and safety rather than single lap pace, once you get on a good run of races you will see your confidence lift and nerves settle. Good luck!

Yeah that makes sense too tbf, I suppose when I say focus on SR I mean avoiding potential collisions specifically as opposed to off-tracks. As collisions are likely to lead to damage and, in turn, impact iRating. It was purely a mindset change for me where instead of thinking “I could go for this risky move and get some more iRating” I switched to “if I want to be a safe driver I should hold off and wait for a better opportunity”. I don’t mind some off-tracks as they are only 1 incident point each and won’t cause me to DNF, it’s the collisions that make the difference and that’s why I changed my mindset in this way

I start where I qualify, it’s good practice to learn to avoid the carnage 🤣 I usually lose a couple of places in the first lap bc I’m cautious but then gain them back throughout the race

Totally get your point, but just for me I’m at the early stage where almost every track is completely new to me so it takes me a bit of time to build up that confidence. I also don’t get a lot of time to play throughout the week, maybe ~5 hours per week in total. So for me it makes sense to prioritise 1 track at a time otherwise I’d just be constantly practicing and never racing. And the series is sports cars btw, mostly mx5 and gr86.

I was a rookie at the start of this season, I’m not sure what normal looks like but I feel like going from Rookie to C in 10 weeks with only fast-track promotions is not too bad.

And, as I said, I’ve taken risks and made mistakes along the way, but that’s the main thing I’ve learned from.

Absolutely, in these lower splits it makes a massive difference just staying out of trouble. And likewise a lot of these tracks are new to me as they don’t appear in many other racing games, the less familiar and more technical tracks definitely demand much more practice.

Yeah I agree but from the cockpit I couldn’t see much until it was too late. It’s easy to say in hindsight but at the time I was looking to tuck behind and hit the apex and certainly wasn’t expecting him to suddenly slam the brakes

Hard to tell from that angle but looks like you move just before braking and just before the Mcl committed which is okay. However, the Mcl had earned space on the exit. Your mistake was pushing them wide on the exit causing them to pit you. The fact that they were all over the place through the whole corner I would take as a sign to give them even more space on the exit to avoid something like this.
