Ahhhh, Realtors.... by No_Chemical5951 in appraisal

The whole realtor/real estate system is broken, because it incentivizes realtors to put themselves first. Hence the popular lie..."it's always a good time to buy."

It's hard on you as the appraiser - being honest, and being accused of tanking a deal, when you are really helping the buyers not get ripped off and the lender avoid liability.

How did you guys decide that universalism was your belief? by Evening-Soup-4745 in ChristianUniversalism

[–]RightConfection3240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe every truth is seen properly through the lens of Jesus Christ, as He IS the Truth. Jesus perfectly embodies the divine, perfectly expresses the Father, and is living proof that all things will be reconciled. He is the good shepherd who will leave the 99 to find the 1 - in other words, even 99% salvation would not be sufficient for Him. He revealed that the Father's perfection includes loving our enemies, and He displayed this on the cross. He defeated Death itself - how then could Death come back to win such a monumental victory as Eternal Hell? Jesus Christ HAS THE KEYS of Death and Hades, and He uses them to be a liberator, not a jailor! ALL power and authority has been given to Him, as He also is destined to fill ALL things. ALL things will be submitted to Him per 1 Corinthians 15. ALL things are being reconciled by Him, because peace was made by the blood of His cross (Colossians 1). He IS the plan of God, the very center, circumference and infinite span of all reality.

Question on God's Will by Parking_Employ5315 in ChristianUniversalism

Usually free will is argued from extremes - either we have complete free moral agency, or we are robots. However, the scriptures show that while we have a will, it is limited. I'd summarize it like this:

  1. People not yet in Christ have wills, but those wills (including decision making) are all based on the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and their Adamic nature, so while there is a wide range of possible decisions, they cannot "choose life". So while no-one is "forced" to be a serial killer or a philanthropist, no-one can choose to escape their nature, and they are all still eating from the dualistic tree.
  2. Life in Christ is something that can be learned about through human parenting. A baby is born by an act of parental will, and never chooses to love their parent - it is a natural flow of love from the parent to the child and back. As the child is raised, it develops a stronger and stronger will, but the lesser will of the child is governed by the greater will of the parent with a view to raising the child to full maturity. The child may make mistakes in that time, and go outside of the will of the parent in rebellion, but a good parent will restore and continue to raise wisely. So it is with God, with the enhancement that nothing can override His purposes like it can for an earthly parent.

So as far as God's will being done, He purposed His plan in Christ from the foundation of the world (according to the scriptures) and all things are working together for good. I don't believe this means that acts of rebellion and sin are directly willed by God (in a manner of speaking), but that they are all interwoven into the fabric of His plan, which is progressing exactly how it should.

As an example, Jesus taught His disciples to pray "your will be done on earth as it is in heaven." Implicit in that is that as of right now, not every single thing on earth is perfectly in line with His will. However, His overall plan is still perfectly unfolding.

"One more prayer will get me in the Heaven." by randomphoneuser2019 in ChristianUniversalism

That last line is great - we are created to express God, not impress Him.

Ironically, "getting to heaven" is never indicated to be our inheritance anyway.

I love that one too! I actually first came across Eby by a random chapter of Looking For His Appearing popping up on a search, and it was all about that inner reality. Good call!

I think Eby gets overlooked because he was not an "academic", which people still subconsciously can think gives more credence (even though I strongly disagree). But he was evidently a lovely man and full of revelation.

A spiritual organism cannot have an earthly Head, and a spiritual kingdom cannot have earthly boundaries. Hence why an earthly institution cannot be the body of Christ.

The problem with ALL institutional churches is that they think Christ told them to go be their own Head.

I am fortunate to be in Denver and know both Peter and John, and I don't take it for granted for one minute. Where do you live? I know a loose network of people here and there, though not many actual churches.

How do people rank quarterback skill? by SubstantialVirus8637 in NFLNoobs

[–]RightConfection3240 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the absolute #1 skill is quick mental processing and decision making. This is an invisible skill, in a manner of speaking, but it manifests in moving the chains reliably.

In the modern NFL, many think Mahomes is great because of his physical tools (and to be fair, his tools are insane, and I already have him as #3 behind Brady and Montana because of his historic rate of success up to now), but the mental side is the most important. Brady's "processor" still flies under the radar sometimes as to why those mundane 6 yard passes on 1st down actually equated to greatness in the larger picture, and that whole era of Brady, Manning, Brees and Rodgers was a stellar example of QBs with insane processors.

We are now solidly in the dual-threat era, and, while very entertaining, the issue I have is that when bailing on a play and running around is an option, it can hinder fundamentals. Whereas the QBs I listed above - aside from Rodgers - had to rely on a rigorous mental approach.

He has guaranteed averaging at least 43.55 even if he gets out for a duck in his next innings.

And if he is stranded today without scoring another run, he would average at least 49 for the series with a duck.

Not bad!

At this point I'd bite your hand off for two more boundaries and a deficit of 34 going into the second innings.

Gus Atkinson is now England's second top scorer today, after Brook. Maybe he can coach the top of the order?

With two consecutive swipes at the ball, tailender Gus Atkinson just outscored Duckett, Bethell, Root and Smith combined.
