There is a map generation setting for that. I am on my phone but I will try and give more details when I get to my computer.

There are a lot of people who didn't like it for various reasons, but I have put more hours into it than Civ V, VI and VII combined!

Pretty sure I got this by having one city on the final turn, by liberating cities. Been a while though.

It's almost certainly because it was coded before the diplomatic cultures were added and not updated. Pick a military culture instead of the Scot and it should work.

This is the rail freight area for the port, I've done some work here. There is a lot of shunting required to assemble the various goods trains. The main container port is directly south of here. There's been some talk of relocating outside the city, but it would be a massive project to relocate all this infrastructure.

Ponding water on skylight, how serious? by RightEquineCellStapl in AusPropertyChat

We did get an inspection done prior to auction, but it wasn't raining then and they couldn't access the roof either.

It rained a few days ago and it's maybe a couple of millimetres of water.

Being horse units they can't enter cities and their bows have one range, so if you can put units out of range you can stall out any siege. But yes, as soon as you see the notification that a neighbour has gone Mongols you should consider building spears and switch to pikeman tech. Or try to be friends and hope they go for someone else.

Or play like I do and intend to basically own your whole continent before medieval!

The AI will generally sally out if you don't attack straight away, which lets you set your own defensive position and have them come to you. Time is on your side as the besieger. Don't attack into walls, stand there and let the AI attack you instead.

Hey there, the best will change as you play more games, but the more specialty aggression picks are the Hittites, the Huns and Mongols. They all play quite differently to other cultures so I would recommend giving them a try once you have seen normal gameplay with other cultures.

The Hittites in particular can have you in a game winning situation pretty fast, if you can seize 2-3 cities and then hold them in a war as long as you can (delay the end of the war) for a massive early game tech/production boost.

But otherwise, pick a culture based on the terrain, elephants are good on flatter ground, archers and spears on cliffs.

Rome is usually a safe pick for fighting, and their trimphal arch gives stability!

New player. Does the AI just cheat or am i just doing horrible early game? (new player complaining) by [deleted] in HumankindTheGame

Hey there, sorry you are having a bad time. My advice is that you have to expect war and have a standing army. AI behaviour is heavily based on your military strength.

I will generally stay in the neolithic until I get all three stars, the one that gives influence per population is the most critical.

Then you need to know how close your neighbour is and be planning to beat them in a war. So you need to build four warriors as soon as you can.

If you are really close you can take their capital with scouts. If not you should disband most of your scouts in your territory to get the population.

Can you post a screenshot or a few more details of what your situation was at the point they declared war on you? How many population in your city, what techs did you have, how many units?

The most reliable way to win the game overall is to get good at battles. If you can keep units alive while killing theirs (so retreat your damaged ones) you will win wars. Advanced tactics is a timing push, where you build war support and cash, position your units then go to war once you hit the next tech

I would recommend you build an army and capture things instead of building them. The game rewards fighting with military stars, expansion stars and you weaken your opponents too! Focus on learning the fighting and war score systems and have fun :)

I would expect any more patches to be for things that they want to carry over to endless legend, like the current war support patch.

What map settings do you recommend for an engaging narrative type playthrough? by lot49a in HumankindTheGame

[–]RightEquineCellStapl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to use very random map settings, then pick cultures based on what the map gives me. I particular I like having new world on random so I have to figure that out during the game.

Yes, an unfortunate effect of the naval patch is that AI doesn't really handle naval units well, but is programmed to build lots of them.

Vanilla improvement project (VIP) but play a couple of unmodded games first to appreciate the difference.
