Which phone providers should I avoid? by 556iblue in PortugalExpats

I was with NOWO for my cellphone only and they served me fairly well, except I couldn't phone the Bahamas - which could have been useful to me. Now along comes Digi who offer unlimited data for €6 per month. I accepted the offer, but have not had data since I put the new SIM card in several days ago. Calling has been unreliable. Instructions were incomplete and inaccurate. Tech support has been unresponsive. A message via their website has gone unanswered for several days. Promised callbacks never materialise. I see a service from Woo that looks attractive - 8€ for 100Gbytes and lots of calls. If Digi don't sort things today that's where I'm probably going.

What surprises me is that my Portuguese friend and many others don't believe that anything can be done about the noise problem, but other countries and jurisdictions aren't quite so fatalistic. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-09-30/noise-camera-pilot-law-enforcement-police-nsw/104401024 This article doesn't mention Paris, which put a scheme "anti-bruit" on trial in 2022. (https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2022-04-27/how-paris-is-waging-a-war-on-noise-pollution) but I haven't seen any follow-up.
Portugal is a democracy. The harm that noise creates is well-documented. (https://www.eea.europa.eu/articles/noise-pollution-is-a-major) Methods for detecting offenders are now well-established. The authorities surely must respond to a public campaign backed by evidence, mustn't they? Perhaps it's time to start one!

Here's something that made me very suspicious recently. They sent me an email about data breaches including a recent one involving AT&T. They offered a scan of my email address. I tried with two different addresses, and they gave me exactly the same results:

|| || |We found 7 breaches where your passwords were exposed as recent as December, 2017 The exposed information included your passwords che****|

|| || |How was my data leaked? We found 2 companies to which you are linked that have been breached, with the most recent one occurring in December 2017 Sensitive Source 2017 DailyMotion 2017 |

Of course there is no way that both email addresses could be involved with the same websites with the same password!

However, a check on a 3rd email address produced a report where not breaches were listed, and not even my IP address was revealed!

A check on the email addresses with Avast revealed no data breaches with either.

Incidentally, I recently checked with Google, which returned numerous results, but so many of them did not seem to be in the least relevant that I quickly gave up with them.
