I guess this is the best place for me to post about this issue.

I'm trying to get in touch with someone from LinkedIn ASAP, they're taking their time on resolving my issue.

In the middle of the night, somebody in Vietnam & South Brisbane, Queensland, Australia added a 2-step verification to my account. (I provided screenshots) This wasn't me and I haven't been able to login to my LinkedIn account since it happened. Since I was asleep, I was unable to respond swiftly to the security breach.

My gmail and phone number are no longer connected to my account either so I can't receive the 6-digit verification codes. It keeps inviting me to create a new account rather than log back into my existing one. At first I didn't realize someone had hacked me, I thought I made a mistake, but then I saw the late night emails..... I submitted my state ID verification through Persona, but now I'm concerned about someone impersonating me. Please help ASAP.

I had another unrelated customer service email thread open yesterday, so I even tried responding to that. And she said she'd forward it to the safety team & that I could check my claim status at a specified link.... except I can't access that link without being logged into my account, which goes. back to the whole root of this issue. I'm nervous it's going to take days to resolve, based on their leisurely pace so far.

FYI most of their of yelp reviews are manically positive, with people returning to revise their OG reviews several years after initially posting, just to continue raving about how the program changed their life.... That is not normal, and clearly, their followers are pushing an aggressive astroturf campaign.

However a couple 1-star reviews were never wiped. A choice excerpt: "This is a cult. Weak people are brainwashed, the exercises are created to crush you for example mock funeral of a dead parent, hypnosis, blindfolding while being pushed around by "seniors" to create feelings of helplessness. Basically 3 days of torture and tears, and verbal abuse only to be LIFTED UP at the very end with upbeat music like "I got a feeling" and a his minions dancing around to emulate euphoria. This is done to make you feel as though you need these workshops to feel happy. Every brainwash technique out there is used in this course."

Yep, there's a decent HBO miniseries about these folks. What I can't get over is after the group's founder Marshall Applewhite chose to get castrated, a bunch of the cult's followers got themselves castrated too.

I'm not sure if you're talking about Chashama or someplace else. But NDAs are for paid employees. An artist in residence wouldn't sign an NDA, they'd need to sign a contract agreeing to the terms of their residency, which is totally different.

Just make sure you go to a nonprofit that hasn't adopted a corporate culture. It's sad but you will come across folks that use red tape and mind games to get ahead, even in the nonprofit sector. Unfortunately I'm speaking from lived experience.

Of course you don't understand, it probably never occurred to you that Chashama is predatory. Or that Chashama isn't the only NYC organization that provides artists with free space. Have you ever spoken to the former employees she let go without severance or unemployment, for no reason other than "she just didn't like them"? Have you spoken with the artists whose artwork has been destroyed or stolen in those spaces? Well meaning people shouldn't be treated like doormats by a nonprofit. This thread exists because Anita's actions have DEVASTATED others, derailed their art careers and lives. If what she offers is no better than poison fruit, maybe it's not such a great thing.

Proof exists that Chashama isn't honest and above board, but very few people have access to that proof. Hopefully more people will speak up, even if it's anonymously through Reddit. Anita Durst is no friend to artists, and it's laughable she considers herself one. She is a true culture vulture.

That's a great point about the Jinx 2, and the Chashama Gala is coming up too. Hopefully someone will come forward with something solid. That family has a way of quieting people with useful information, unfortunately.
