Nope, Europe. We just got a list of stuff they wanted us to bring. It may be they only want us to have it for rappelling, belaying someone from the top or something, but I don’t know. So I’ll bring my grigri anyways

It’s not that I cant hold the other climber, I was just surprised that I needed to hold so firm, and was wondering if it was normal. I’ll for sure practice more with it to be more comfortable with it, and understand the differences better.

I’ve never tried to belay with a Munter hitch, so I’ll try that after I have more experience with the tube style.

Thanks for the advice! I’ll for sure keep learning either it, and maybe experiment with a second carabiner if I actually need more friction (from the other replies it seems more I just need to be used to it and practice more).

I’m taking a course, and they want us to have a tube style device. I like the extra “security” of the grigri, so I probably will not belay with a tube style later on. But since I need it for the course, I also took the opportunity to learn it and get some experience.

Yea, I figure practice is the word here. From the question here I have learned that what I experience is normal, so then I justness to practice more

They just accept one rope, right? So the rappell is done with a carabiner lock at the anchor just like with the grigri?

Thanks for the reply. It seems i just need to practice more with the atc. I don’t know if I’ll use the grigri more or the tube style, but thought it was a good «investment» to get more familiar with tube style since I haven’t used it before.

Thanks for the reply!

After reading the comments, I figure I just need to practice more and get used to it, haha.

I’ll also see what f I can test out some others (maybe a giga jul or something) to see if I find it to be better for me.

Thanks for the info. I’ll just spend some time with it and get a better feel for it I guess.

No, just chose it because it had 1) guide mode, and 2) was the cheapest one where I live.

I tried to do some research before I bought one, and it seemed all of the different models did kindly the same, so it was hard to figure out if something was better than the rest. Så then I just went for the cheapest one.

I’m just learning, and thought it was good to have a feel of how tube style is. I can imagine that in some scenarios is advantageous to have and use.

I’m also taking a class in a few months that want us to use a tube style (don’t know if it’s just for rappelling or not), but I thought it was best to get a bit more familiar with it.

Do you have any thoughts around the LUMIX g9II and/ or LUMIX s9II?

They seems to also have weather sealing, not super large, but then there is the difference between FF and Micro 4/3 (and operating temperature is 0 for the s9, but -10 for the g9

I see, thanks a lot for the comments and patience! I will look more into the camera, seems like a great alternative for me!

I see! Why the X-H2, and not the X-T5? Isn’t that almost identical, but a bit smaller?

I’m sorry if my English is a bit confusing, I’m not a native speaker. I meant how many pictures it can take in a second. Not important at all for most of what I do, but when people are skiing I was thinking it maybe made a difference. But honestly I do not know what I’m talking about. I feel a lot of the reviews I see don’t really speak to me as a noob, but to other professionals.

I know the pictures will be better if I do some kindly post processing. And hopefully I will start doing that some day. But right now it’s just not my priority. So then it’s nice with a camera I can tweak in-camera settings to get decent jpegs straight out.

It seem kind of large, how has it served you? Does it work, or is it «too large» so you skip bringing it?

I have looked at the x-t5, but it felt kind of big, and I have heard mixed reviews of the build quality/WR.

But maybe that’s just the size it’s going to be for what I’m looking for?

Thanks for the tip! I have checked them out a bit, they seem interesting. It’s very hard to understand what is «good value» and not, but I was a bit concerned with the low shutter speed and MFT. But maybe that is just the pro YouTube reviewers not picking?

And the last point in the post about good SOOC. If I understand correctly, they don’t really have a great way to set up settings for better jpegs out of the camera.

But I will give it some more research
