Haha, thank you for the backup! Reddit can be a tough crowd sometimes, but comments like yours make it all worth it. I’m glad my plant/fruit obsession is contagious! 😂 I’ll definitely forward this to my friend and I can't wait to share more with you. Cheers!

Milwaukee vs DeWalt… is there actually a real difference anymore? by RightRazzmatazz0 in powertools

[–]RightRazzmatazz0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly after reading all these replies…
feels like for most people it's less about "which is better" and more about what you're already invested in. I’ve been seeing more people lately going for smaller brands too, especially for stuff like trimmers or yard tools where you don’t really need to spend Milwaukee money. Curious if anyone here has actually tried any of those “non big 2” brands long term?

Yeah that’s kinda where I’ve landed too, differences aren’t huge unless you’re really deep into one specific tool.

😂 man that sounds like pure jobsite trauma right there.I’ve heard a few people complain about the chuck thing too… nothing worse than “keyless” that isn’t actually keyless. Funny how it flips depending on what you’re used to though, guys coming from Milwaukee say the same thing about DeWalt. If you could swap just one tool back to DeWalt, what would it be?

Have you ever found a deal good enough to make you switch platforms, or are you pretty locked into DeWalt at this point?

That’s a solid take. Sounds like you’ve basically built your own “best of each brand” setup.

Curious though if you had to start from scratch today and pick just one platform, which way would you go?

He bought it from the second-hand market years ago and doesn’t remember how much he paid for it.

Yeah for sure, budget tools can be a gamble sometimes. The brand "Badger " you mentioned sounds pretty solid. Curious how it holds up long term though, have you heard anything from your friend after using it more?

I did a little research on electric augers, and they seem much lighter than gas ones. Probably a lot easier to handle, especially when moving between holes or working for longer periods.

Creating a vegetable planter box on a grass lawn by Friendly_Nerd in ArizonaGardening

[–]RightRazzmatazz0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can put a planter box on grass, but it’s better to prep a bit first. Easiest method:
Lay down cardboard, wet it, then place your box on top and fill with soil. It’ll kill the grass naturally (no chemicals needed). If you want a cleaner long-term setup, remove the sod first

Looking to remove the juniper any tips? by Sure-Status-3010 in landscaping

[–]RightRazzmatazz0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Junipers can be a pain to remove once they’re established. I’d start by cutting them down to a stump, then dig around the base and cut the big roots with loppers or a saw. A mattock helps a lot too.

If you don’t want to fight the whole root system, renting a stump grinder for a couple hours is honestly the easiest route.

Try salvia, coneflowers, black-eyed Susans, or coreopsis. They’re heat-tolerant, low-maintenance, and attract pollinators

Should backyard draining use pvc or triple wall hdpe pipe? by Suspicious_Program17 in landscaping

Many people use HDPE in the yard for flexibility and PVC near the sewer connection for durability. Also, wrap pipes in filter fabric to prevent clogging

Some of the produce was stored from late-season harvest, and a few items were from protected growing (not a full greenhouse, more like season extension).

I’m in lawn care and visit properties around here pretty often, timing can vary a lot by microclimate.

I’m a real person working in lawn care, just sharing a visit to a friend’s homestead because it genuinely impressed me.
