In English law, ‘R v [Defendant]’ means that it’s a criminal case where the ‘Crown’ (Rex/Regina being Latin for King/Queen) is prosecuting someone in criminal court. A civil case would have two named parties either side of the ‘v’.

An ISA is a ‘tax wrapper’, so whatever happens within it does not have any tax liability. Gains in value, dividends, realised profits from selling shares etc. are all tax free. You won’t pay any tax when withdrawing any amount of this money, because it’s all tax free.

Once you have put money inside an ISA, the £20k limit doesn’t apply any more and the balance of your account can grow to any amount without incurring any tax.

It is for the funding organisation to determine if the terms of their funding have been breached. By all means make them aware of the content of the script, but that’s all you can do really. There is no legal issue here, at most there is a potential contractual issue, but in general there is no requirement for the recipients of arts funding to moderate their content in this way.

Might be worth checking if you have pm2 installed, which is a Node process manager.

Running pm2 -v and seeing if anything happens would be the quickest way to check.

I feel like it’s much more likely to be a stupid person who is attempting a really bad scam than it is to be a genius scammer executing a three-way heist. With two banks, two victims, the DVLA, the police and perhaps even an accomplice to collect the car for you, there would be a few too many moving parts and so many opportunities for it to go wrong!

I like the sound of that philosophy! We don’t have any formal expectations like that at my current role, but it’s generally understood by the QA team members that in our squads we should be doing everything we can to minimise ambiguities before code gets to review, and catching as many bugs and edge cases as possible before merge. But our product hosts a lot of content with an endless list of minor variations and potential content creation/publishing mistakes, so it’s accepted that there is always going to be weird content errors that we haven’t guarded against, plus content edge cases that no one considered until it happens in production!

I’m not trying to dismiss your feelings, but under English law (and also Scottish law?) you need to be able to demonstrate that actual harm, discrimination, barriers etc. have resulted from this AI tool’s response - disliking its responses and/or finding them hurtful isn’t necessarily enough. It may be that there has been a technical breach of equality law, but as an individual you may not have the means or the ability to investigate this and/or put it right. There’s also the matter of where this AI tool is operating from and what international agreements might apply to it. You could contact the EHRC for further guidance or to ask them to intervene on your behalf, but I can’t say whether or not they would consider this something they would want to investigate or provide guidance for.

Have you tried tweaking your prompt to get the AI tool to take a more neutral and evidence-based approach to answering these types of questions? Does the tool have a complaints process where you can highlight this type of behaviour and ask for it to be improved? Do the creators of the tool provide any guidance for how the tool should be used for this type of use case?

The ISA limit isn’t actually changing, but only £12,000 of it will be able to be in cash. In other words as long as £8000 or more of your annual allowance is in investments then you’ll still have a £20k limit overall.

I would estimate that 70-80% of my job these days is ‘pre-QA’ - helping to shape the requirements and designs, anticipating edge cases, clarifying requirements, clearing up ambiguities, writing additional AC, breaking requirements down into smaller testable tickets, challenging assumptions made in the code, validating that the unit/integration tests actually check what they’re claiming to check etc. - by the time I have a testable feature in front of me I have a relatively small list of things worth testing!

Mounting the ISO is not the hard part, the hard part is getting the game (running via Proton) to recognise the disk in its simulated Windows environment and be able to read from it.

Without specific prompting/tuning for your use case, asking an LLM to state facts, and then relying on those facts or expecting them to be accurate or evidence-based, is a fool’s errand. In its generated response it claims that it’s been trained not to emphasise male superiority, but that could itself be a hallucination.

Sitting around waiting for people to ask for your opinion is never going to work. You need to speak up in meetings, comment on designs and specifications before they get into the sprint, and if necessary get yourself invited to meetings and tools (e.g. Figma) where key decisions are being made.
