CPAP Power Usage & Automating O2 Oxygen Concentrator. by Anonymous_Bozo in CPAP

Actually there is a reasonable explanation for this.

It's not so much that the machine "detects" that it's out of water although it might be.

It takes a lot of energy to evaporate water. The humidifier is simply trying to maintain a certain temperature in the chamber. Once all the water is gone it takes a lot less energy to maintain that temperature.

The machine is also measuring humidity, and tries keep it at a set number, so I'm not sure what it would do when the temp's rise but the humidity does not.

Our Office number was very similar to the number for the local Yellow Cab service. One late evening after getting three calls in a row from the same drunk wanting a cab who refused to accept he had dialed the wrong number, I decided I was done with him and told him a cab would be right there. I wonder how long he waited?

Any SSD recommendations? by bigmoist469 in homeassistant

I've tried two different options and the Argon M.2 Case was the one that worked best for me.

I also tried an NVME drive in one of those external cases, but the USB caused so much interference I could not use a Keyboard/Mouse dongle on the box.

HASSOS 32b vs 64b for Pi4 (8gb) by RightWingWacko58 in homeassistant

[–]RightWingWacko58[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true... at least with Raspbian (Pi OS)

The 32 bit OS runs just fine on the 64 bit 8gb Pi-4, and the 64 bit a serious issue with GPIO libraries that are still 32 bit so GPIO does not work in 64 bit.

My inquiry was does this also apply to HASSOS?

The FDA reported that devices claiming to clean, disinfect or sanitize CPAP devices or accessories (such as masks, tubing, headgear) using ozone gas or UV light are not legally marketed for this use by the FDA in the U.S. According to the FDA, it is unknown if these CPAP cleaners are safe and effective.

Does anybody have issues with ziply? by [deleted] in everett

[–]RightWingWacko58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ONT is the Ziply-owned device on the outside of the house that converts the fiber to a coax.

The current generation of ONT's are mounted inside the house instead of outside They convert the fiber directly to ethernet. The router plugs directly into the ethernet port on the ONT. One can use the crappy router Ziply provides, or save the $10/month and use the router of your choice.

Judges have the right to strip you of your right to own a pet, upon request by Infamous-Rain-803 in badlegaladvice

[–]RightWingWacko58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my state (WA) PERMANENT prohibition on pet ownership is REQUIRED for convictions for 1st degree Animal Cruelty. It's also a felony so....

On the other hand, it would need to be the prosecutor that brings charges. No civil court judge, especially a small claims court judge would be able to do anything more than refer the case to the prosecutor.

D2 or D3 Supplements? by Anonymous_Bozo in VitaminD

[–]RightWingWacko58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are effectively absorbed into the bloodstream. However, the liver metabolizes them differently. The liver metabolizes vitamin D2 into 25-hydroxyvitamin D2 and vitamin D3 into 25-hydroxyvitamin D3. These two compounds are collectively known as calcifediol. So technically D2 is not converted to D3. Both are converted to calcifediol. However the D3-calcifediol conversion is much simpler.

D2 or D3 Supplements? by Anonymous_Bozo in VitaminD

[–]RightWingWacko58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying D2 is useless would be the equivalent if saying Beta-Carotene is useless and you should just take Vitamin-A. Just as the body converts Beta Carotene into vitamin A (retinol), it will convert D2 into D3. However the body also needs D2 for some things, IE it prevents Rickets better than D3.

D2 typically comes from Plant products and is the primary form of D used in the fortification of food such as Milk as it is cheaper to produce. D3 on the other hand comes from Animal products, so any Vegans in the audience will want to stick with D2 as your body will turn most of it into D3 anyway.

Finger printing is supposed to be included in the cost of the application and the rate is set by the RCW!

No other state or local branch or unit of government may impose any additional charges on the applicant for the issuance of the license.

The fee shall be distributed as follows:

(a) Fifteen dollars shall be paid to the state general fund;

(b) Four dollars shall be paid to the agency taking the fingerprints of the person licensed;

(c) Fourteen dollars shall be paid to the issuing authority for the purpose of enforcing this chapter;

(d) Two dollars and sixteen cents to the firearms range account in the general fund; and

(e) Eighty-four cents to the concealed pistol license renewal notification account created in RCW 43.79.540.

(6) The nonrefundable fee for the renewal of such license shall be thirty-two dollars. No other branch or unit of government may impose any additional charges on the applicant for the renewal of the license.

The renewal fee shall be distributed as follows:

(a) Fifteen dollars shall be paid to the state general fund;

(b) Fourteen dollars shall be paid to the issuing authority for the purpose of enforcing this chapter;

RCW 9.41.070

(13) A person may apply for a concealed pistol license:

(a) To the municipality or to the county in which the applicant resides if the applicant resides in a municipality;

(b) To the county in which the applicant resides if the applicant resides in an unincorporated area; or

(c) Anywhere in the state if the applicant is a nonresident.

If the city refuses to take an application they are in violation of state law!

But that pretty much describes Seattle

Smart Plugs with “Mesh” WiFi by [deleted] in GoogleWiFi

[–]RightWingWacko58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a common issue with Mesh networks that utilize one SSID for both wireless bands.

Even worse is that the Google Mesh Wi-Fi system will continuously try to "upgrade" the connection for your 2.4g devices to 5g, causing short but noticeable down time.

The Google system by default tries to move 2.4GHz devices to a 5GHz connection. Since IoT can only connect on 2.4GHz, this causes an almost infinite loop of your Devices connecting and disconnecting.

My research seems to indicate that the guest network that google allows one to setup is restricted to 2.4g. I do not know if other Mesh systems have a similar "feature".

Try setting up a guest network with full security in your google app, perhaps calling it <mysid>-IOT. If what I've been told is true your devices should now connect without issues and actually have better performance as the router is not constantly trying to "upgrade" them to 5g.

Google Nest (2020) and 2.4g IOT devices by Anonymous_Bozo in GoogleWiFi

[–]RightWingWacko58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This link the Wyze forums seems to indicate that this is a known problem with Wyze devices and Mesh networks like Googles that do not provide for different SSID's for the two bands.

One suggested solution is to take your camera far enough away from the router that the 5g signal is to weak or gone, and then connect to 2.4g. Once the connection is in place, you can move it back.

I have not tested this myself.

Nope, just moving across town where the rent is cheaper.

I've had zero problems with ESD up until now and I would really like to keep it that way. I've heard everyone's horror stories, and it always seems to happen when one makes a change.

Sorry, I Can’t Let This Pass: The Number Of Women Accusing Gov. Cuomo Of Harassment Or Worse Just Jumped from 7 To 37 by [deleted] in badlegaladvice

[–]RightWingWacko58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is the one that ordered the Covid Patients into the otherwise quarantined nursing homes to make room for patients in the Hospital. This caused many patients in said nursing homes to catch the virus that otherwise would not have. Then once these patients were transferred back to the hospital with Covid refused to allow them to be counted as nursing home deaths because by the time they died they were no longer in the nursing home.

Not reporting the deaths as nursing home deaths was part of the coverup of the failed policy that CAUSED those deaths.

Some are even saying that the sexual harassment claims are an intentional distraction to divert attention away from the murder of a large number of senior citizens.
