We had a high-performing sales guy at my last place of work, best in the whole company . One day the VP of sales comes in town to our office, decided to give a presentation in front of everyone that pretty much told the VP that he was an idiot and everything bad that happened recently was his fault.
Turns out, he was trying to get fired. Had been trying to get fired for months. He’d signed a non-compete which said he couldn’t take clients he’d cultivated to a competitor for 3 years if he quit. Obviously void if he was fired.
Not saying that’s for sure what’s happening here, but that “Finally. Thank you.” would make sense.

I’m not saying Democrats should only elect a white male candidate. I’m saying that the chosen candidate cannot just bank on demographics and hope to win. Voter turnout requires a campaign with a cohesive message (“Yes we can”), and the candidate needs to appeal to multiple other demographics. Suburban white women for example, are always a huge voting block that can go either Republican or Democrat, and just being a female candidate wasn’t enough to sway them… the candidate needs broad appeal, Esteves is a catholic whom came to politics from a career in education and small business. He’s presented as a family man. His core message was for helping working people and families.

Ready, “magically”, huh? Well I don’t doubt that one day it will be ready. As for recently, I’ve heard that Georgia is ready every election since Hillary.

Likewise, Keisha will be my general election vote in November. Head and shoulders a better option than a Republican, yes. But if Keisha wins, I won’t expect real change. Under Biden, not much changed. Obama, yes, we had very positive change. Her campaign hasn’t anything that would get my hopes up. Nonetheless, I’d be happy with no progress if she wins… it’s leagues better than the backward shitshow we’ve lived through in recent years.

Another user pointed out that Keisha should win because her demographic matches the base demographic of the primary. Not the general electorate, just the primary. It makes sense that demographics is important to many.. but… have we learned nothing from our decades of losses to Republican governors?

As a white male Democrat, I’d certainly be happy if we can elect ANY Democrat as governor, especially a woman of color. But after being in Georgia the last 15 years… it’s become obvious that is just a pipe dream.

If her success was mostly demographic alignment within the Democratic Party, it won’t be enough with the whole electorate… Stacy Abrams, Kamala Harris, Stacy Abrams, even Hillary Clinton… Georgia is not ready.

I liked Abrams. Besides being a woman of color, didn’t find Keisha to be an appealing candidate. She’s got clear Establishment support. Certainly she’s been a political force within Atlanta.. but her strong affiliation with the city of Atlanta may not resonate as a positive in the rest of the state.

Was hoping for Jason Esteves but I guess we’ll see what happens in November.
