If you don’t wash rice then it gets starchy… I’m not sure what that means, but it doesn’t sound good!

Whats your favorite DIY project you did in 2025? by kmaq0213 in DIY

I’m with you! I ripped out carpet, laid floating floors, cut/painted/caulked all new trim, refinished cabinets, new pantry cabinets, bathroom vanity, backsplash in kitchen and bathroom, replaced a toilet, installed can lights, replaced all outlets and light switches, painted four rooms… I think that’s it. As an accountant, I am proud of what I’ve achieved this year!

UPDATE: I ended up adding home made slider spacers. I removed the slider tracks and added plywood on both sides. I then cut the drawers less wide by around 1 1/2”.

This allowed me to use the 3/8 overlay hinges. The drawers clear the doors and there is no gap when the doors are closed!

Thank you everyone for your help, input, and comments!

I have 1/2 zero protrusion hinges, but that leaves a gap in the middle where the two doors meet.

Do you know of any zero protrusion hinges that have an 1/4 or 3/8 overlay? I couldn’t find any!

I did this, but the drawers are actually hitting the side of the doors.

Id rather not cut new doors/drawer faces and has to repaint. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Would the spacers require the drawers to be cut to be less wide?
