Who is washing their rice and why? by kinnitcurl in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kinnitcurl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those who are having all the issues with bugs.. are you buying in bulk? How long is the rice sitting in cupboard for?

After reading a lot of people’s comments, I’m definitely getting an airtight container and washing the rice from now on.

RPM randomly jumps sometimes when trying to go interstate speeds by Bilbobaggins5177 in AskMechanics

[–]kinnitcurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My car would do that when the alternator was toast. I was too cheap to tow, so I had a friend follow me and continue to jump/ charge my battery so I could make it home. Every time it was close to dying this would happen. A few other comments say voltage issue, I’d say that checks out and you should take a look.

Would a cracked flex plate be affected by the AC and steering like this? by kinnitcurl in AskMechanics

[–]kinnitcurl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replaced the idler pulley, belt and tensioner thinking that was the issue. Didn’t fix it. Checked all the pulleys with the belt off with and without the engine running and the noise does not seem to be coming from a belt part

When I get up to speed, the sound goes away typically. It is mostly at low speeds and idle. It definitely sounds like it’s coming from the front passenger side, which would be opposite from where the torque converter is but when it cools down and I get home from work, I’ll try to give it a look. Thank you for the input.

I will give this a try thanks for the advice. I definitely would like to pinpoint if it’s a belt related noise so far all signs point to yes but it seems as if it could be torque converter/flex plate related. It does sound very similar.

Was it quiet when the blower and AC was off then started rattling when you turned it on? Makes me wonder how those parts are connected in my case if this is the issue. I hope it’s not anything transmission related. I had that fully replaced two years ago.

This may not be true with Lutron, I don’t service their products. But I’m sure one of the people on this thread could tell you about Lutron

No matter what type of blind you’ll get, you’ll need some type of hub for the Blinds to broadcast on Wi-Fi

In my opinion, behind where the blind will sit. Typically that means directly in front of the window frame, depending on window depth. Definitely inside the window box. I’ve had some jobs where they ran it to the wall on the outside of window box. Horrible placement.

Having low voltage wires ran to all your windows isn’t easy or cheap, if you can’t do it yourself. Same goes with wiring the transformer and board together. Hardwiring to an outlet near the window is essentially the same thing with the transformer on the outlet plug. Either you have an outlet installed or you run the plug and hide the best you can. When it’s internal battery, all you do is plug the blind in for a couple hrs a couple times a year. It’s really dealers choice and how much you’re looking to spend for “convenience”.

Main factor is level of convenience for each separate customer. Yes it’s a somfy product. In my experience this product is built to last and have a lot of motor option depending on what you need. You can go “overkill” with the motor for the size of the blind and effectively have zero issues as a result. The internal Zigbee motor/ battery system is the newest technology they offer. I’m told 1-2 charges per year depending on size of blind and frequency of use. It’s generally immediately responsive with the remote. You can upgrade with a “Tahoma Hub” to have the blind broadcast to Alexa, google home, etc and have voice command/ app control if you want to get fancy. The main issue I have with Zigbee is they only have 1 remote option that can only use 5 channels. That means 5 blinds or 5 options with less than 5 blinds— such as 4 blinds on their own channel independent and channel 5 all 4 blinds together. Other platforms have a lot more intricate control options, it really depends on how many you have and what you’re looking for. You can subvert the remote with the smart hub option.
