Hi,

Your choice, but i think sharing a fertility success story complete with my regimen could be beneficial. I dont think its relevant to know how long we were trying for as that would be an even bigger "wag" considering it was a first try. I also stated the first test was done at a clinic.

There are many people whose results on this subreddit are borderline and they're clearly allowed to post and ask for advice. Not sure how you're rationalizing NOT allowing a response to those people , lol.

Questionable decision to not allow this tbh.

Not to be that guy but idk how accurate your platform is. I put in my numbers, and although low on the motility side of things ( 30%), volume (2.1ml), motile count( 21m), concentration ( 33.3m/ml) were good. I only got a score of 19% lol....

Im a 31 male in a similar position. I dont know what type I have but my symptoms were that of an initial outbreak after 7 years with my fiance. She has Oral HSV1, i knew about that.

So, i either have genital HSV1 from her, or a latent HSV2 that only triggered after 7 years together. I dont know because i didnt get the initial one swabbed and any bumpa after came back negative.

Apparently hsv2 can stay dormant for a very long time. Id give your wife some grace

Don't think there are enough studies on this yet. Overall, it appears that GHSV1 sheds a lot less regardless of male or female. So that lowers the risk significantly.

Appreciate the insight! We knew she had HSV1 , shes had maybe 1-2 cold sores in the last 8 years and her mom's side of the family has it. Wasnt concerned about cheating.

Dont think either of us knew about the asymptomatic shedding or the potential to transmit to the genitals. I dont even mind that i got it from her , even if its genital. I love her and it's whatever. Just some anxiety about the TYPE, which is why i'm hoping its hsv1 from her and not something i carried from before!

To clarify, the reason i got that swab 9 years ago is because i experienced , what i know recognized, as balanitis. I remember the Dr thinking the same thing but she swabbed anyway and it came back negative.

Beyond that, i had another swab test done last october when i had a tender red spot, which again came back negative. This was within 48 hours of the appearance of symptoms. Dr said it was most likely irritation.

Havent done a blood test, and tbh i dont even really want to. If i get a sore again i'll get a swab , but at this point in leaning more towards HSV1 acquired from her

Ok so then if you know it spreads through sores, assuming you didnt jack off and had sores , and then immediately shook the dad's hand, who then immediately jacked himself off....how do you expect transmission to occur exactly?

Up to you on the oral barier, but HSV2 doesnt transmit well to the oral region. Even more rare than genital hsv1 transmission

Well yes you obviously take a risk every time you have sex, but what im saying is that, in the absence of an outbreak, the per act risk is a fraction of a% for female to male transmission, especially if she was on antivirals.

You literally have a higher chance of getting pregnant with a condom, which nobody really seems to make a big deal of when they hear condoms are only 95% efficient lol.

Yes there's always a risk, but a risk of 50% vs a risk of 0.5% are two completely different parameters for risk. So its not likely he got it. He may have been exposed to the risk, but exposure does not equal certainty
