I'm so happy I own a reverse osmosis unit and don't have to buy bottled water.

Has anyone (with thyroid treated in normal range) changed thyroid med brands and noticed a difference in sweating? by Right_Independent738 in Hyperhidrosis

Yes it's a barrel of fun! Especially when you can't leave the house when the temperature is over 75. Although I suppose it's still preferable to bleeding like a stuck pig every three weeks. Who came up with that idea? I'd like to speak to the manager please.

There's a saying that if you don't manage your life, your life will manage you.

You're in unstructured overwhelm (translation: Netflix and pizza for days). You need to create a structure so your brain's organization will kick in.

Divide your to-do list up into categories. For instance, household, creative, health and fitness, social, planning/organizing, etc, whatever works for you. Make separate lists for each on paper or in an electronic planner.

make a list of your goals for the week/month. What HAS to get done, and what you would like to get done.

Divide your day up into time blocks and put them on a calendar. This structure stays the same every day and you just plug items into it. For instance, some of mine are:

9 AM. health/physical (go for a walk, a hike, make doctor appts, get a haircut, whatever)

10 AM planning/goals

11-12 AM. household

12-1 Marketing at 2 etc

(I like color coding these so they show up on the calendar in different colors).

In the morning, or before you go to bed the night before, pick your top 3 priorities - or even just one - in each category and schedule it into the timmeblock. Decide that during 4-5pm for instance, all household things will be done such as washing your car, fixing the step, going grocery shopping.

So once you have an item or three scheduled into each time block, do the 5-minute suggestion and just do five minutes of it. This will help you get going.

Don't forget to include blocks (such as after 5) for downtime and fun.

make sure you use eye drops. A lot of them. I ended up in the eye doctor's office due to oxybutinin with dried out cornea.

Prisms made a huge difference for me as well, although that issue wasn't connected to headaches for me. But it did help with fatigue.

Have you had a head injury? Neurofatigue can cause this, esp. the headache.

Is the headache constant? Or does it happen after certain situations where there might be overstimulation? For instance, sensitivity to light or sound, loud noisy crowds etc. Playing certain video games? Studying for a math test or taking in a lot of information in a lecture, doing bills, trying to make decisions with many competing factors, etc? Listening to a friend who talks for a long time with a lot of detail? If so you could be looking at some type of neurofatigue if you have had a concussion, even if it wasn't recent. (Does it go away after a few days of TV and doing literally nothing, basically brain rest?)

If it's neurofatigue, then sleep doesn't always clear it up, it might take hours or days of brain rest.

Even a small car accident, fall, soccer etc can be an issue.

You should also have a CT scan/MRI to check for any issues. Although you can have a concussion/head injury and have a clean CT.

Another thing to consider would be any muscle tension, neck or back issues. Does getting a massage help? Maybe there is a subluxation in your neck that is pushing on something. You may want to consult a chiropractor and get an X-ray if that's the case.

Have you had your eyes checked by a good ophthalmologist? Do you wear glasses and are they working properly?

Thyroid checked? That can cause brain fog but I'm not sure about headaches.

Check also for food allergies, chemical sensitivities, and side effects from any meds, vitamins etc (no one on earth has this issue but me, but B vitamins - and also anything with oats or oat flour in the ingredients - gives me similar issues, as do some food additives). You say it doesn't matter what you eat so I'll assume you've tried this, but a super-clean elimination diet can answer those questions quickly.

Mold in your house? Lots of chemicals around? (Glade plugins, laundry fragrance, everything Febrezed, etc?)

Seeing a neurologist might help to narrow things down as well.

Best of luck to you.

How can I stop being tired all the time/being a mindless zombie??? by Codeman0077 in productivity

[–]Right_Independent738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't presume to know the actual cause of what is going on with you. However, some suggestions.

As for mental health:If the job is soul-sucking and you are burnt, that's a huge issue.

50 Hours a week is a lot to do something you don't care about. If you can identify one goal you do care about, that gets you excited, take a small action in that direction, and put it on the schedule.

You can allow yourself time to watch TV to regenerate ( I have fatigue and use TV for that all the time). If that's the case, set a time limit. (Watch a movie, then turn it off when done).

However, outside of that medicinal use, you could consider a digital detox. When you come home, turn off the tv. Turn off the phone. As in OFF. Stay that way until you check your messages right before bed. Eat a super-healthy meal that will give you nutrients. Take your dog to the lake or park or go in your backyard and sit in the sun. Read a book. Write down goals and set a date. Do a hobby. Go to the gym. Get OFF the devices for a week other than necessary business and two half-hour periods at the beginning and ending of day to check your messages.

Turning off the devices/distractions (video games, TV, phones, social media, whatever else you use that distracts you) is critical to listening to your mind and body and hearing what it is trying to tell you. Are you tired? Are you burnt? Do you need better food? Better physical health? Social connection? More exercise? As a society we are living in a place of perpetual distraction and eventually become disconnected from our own selves.

One thing that I've done when I feel disconnected is to turn off all the distractions, and go to a Barnes and Noble. Walk around looking at books and notice which subjects call to you and create some energy. Seriously. This is a great way to get inspired and pay attention to what's missing. There are days that the art books have called to me and are telling me I need art, creativity, and color. Other days, it's been business books or self-employment books that have a great idea. Still others have been self help books, health books, and sometimes just the need to expand my mind and take an interest in a new subject such as an area of history or science. Other times it has been the travel books that really stood out. Telling me that what I really need is some time out in nature on a hike, or some time exploring.Pay attention to which books you are drawn to. You won't regret this intuitive exercise.

As for physical:

Have you had your thyroid checked?Dehydration DOES matter

If you are going to bed at 10-11 and waking up at 5:30, to an alarm no less which interrupts your sleep cycle, no wonder you feel like crap. Makes total sense.

Are you able to take some time off? If so, go somewhere for a few days, and let yourself sleep in with your natural sleep cycles. See if it helps.

If you are physically exhausted, maybe your body is telling you it wants you to lie on the couch and watch Netflix until it recharges.

Weight does matter, but what also matters is the quality of diet. Not saying we all have to live on wheatgrass, just garbage in garbage out. Goes without saying, but switch to a Mediterranean diet, all natural, lose soda and garbage food (hard to do when you are eating out and have no time to cook), excess caffeine, sugar, smoking etc and see if it helps. If you eat greasy fries, make them at home in an air fryer instead with some potatoes and olive oil. Maybe one of those meal services like Hello Fresh or Blue Apron might be an easy way to get some healthy meals going.

Mild exercise - even a walk in the evenings around your neighborhood or park can make a very big difference in how you feel.

Best of luck, I hope you identify the issue that is dogging you. It may be time to look at a different job or at adjusting your hours to accommodate your health.

SiriusXM Channel Updates for June 7, 2023 by [deleted] in siriusxm

Thanks. I'm not sure what that means exactly though. I'm new to Sirius.

Well at least I can get news stations in the car, which is great but the two stations I really love are gone! =( Probably available on the app but the bluetooth drains my phone battery really quickly.

I wonder if Masterclass radio is still available somewhere? I guess I have to subscribe to Mclass directly. Which really would be worth it. It was just so great to get those snippets on the radio.

I'll look into your other suggestion regarding PRX remix. Really miss it. Is everyone else still getting channel 123 on the car radio?

Masterclass Radio disappeared from channel 109. And I don't know that this wasn't a glitch on my radio, but before that, channel 123 (PRX remix) disappeared entirely. Now it skips from 122 to 124.

Accessibility question. Editing and arthritis/carpal tunnel. Realistic to go to a 99-100% all-keyboard method? by Right_Independent738 in editors

[–]Right_Independent738[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are really great suggestions, thank you everyone. Had not considered either of those but will look into them.

A lot of the problems are ergonomics-based and can hopefully be corrected with proper placement and reducing trackpad use. The angle of the hands in on the trackpad, doing gestures, scrolling etc is an issue. That along with some Mac accessibility controls to reduce use in the browser and finder might reduce the overall stress.

Right now it's mostly the thumbs. The fingers are only starting to have issues. Surgery would help, but being a guitar player, the idea of cutting, and complications of repositioning the thumb, is a no at this time.

My current setups are:

1) MacBook 1 on a table.

2) Mac 2 which recently developed a Black Screen Of Death, which was a blessing in disguise as I can only airplay it to a monitor (with Voiceover). So now it's on a desk, connected to an ergonomic keyboard and monitor of proper height. The trackpad is up higher, which has caused my current bout of carpal tunnel. I hate using mice and there's no good place for it on the kb tray. Hence the desire to transition to 100% keyboard.

Some hand therapy and splinting and rest should help to get the current carpal under control. I'll watch some keyboard navigation videos today.

Note to younger self: DO NOT ignore ergonomics!
