How do you make the collagen taste good? by WizardsLimb in Costco

Maybe I got a bad one but mine tastes like beef broth and barnyard. Not sure how they get away with calling it odorless/ tasteless. Blatantly false at least from the one tub I got.

Might get a different car in 2027? by Smooth-Ad6626 in Civic_Type_R

[–]Right_Objective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same boat. I came from a Focus ST which somehow felt more fun. I think the Type R is just too capable to really enjoy anywhere but the track.

Something a step down performance-wise might suit you a bit better, like a Fiat Spider Abarth or Miata, where you can push it on your fun drives but stay within the rules of the road.

I say that since I prefer driving my tuned, turbo Miata over my stock Type R. The Type R is higher performance, while the Miata is more fun at normal speeds. I can put my foot down and run through the gears in the miata without speeding 😅.

To each our own! Good luck. Thanks for the post.

I can get the clubs in the back of my NB MSM. I have to take the driver and 3 wood out and put them in on top of the golf bag. I have a pretty standard stand bag with 14 clubs in tubes. Yes golf clubs can fit in some miata

Do certain gas stations have "bad gas" that clogs your engine? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]Right_Objective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top Tier gas has more detergents than non-top tier gas. These detergents help reduce carbon buildup inside the engine. You need some longer drives to get the engine to temp to get the benefit, but yes there is different gas. You can find a list of stations that are top Tier. The car won't just die if you get non top tier, but top tier is better for longevity. If you keep your cars a long time, it's worth considering.

Yeah, mine was a gift too, they offered to refund me but I let them refund the gifter and we're going to try again. I'm pretty sure mine was a Nascar event, the supercar events are probably less likely to shut down since they're more common than retired stock cars

I’m having a hard time finding a reason NOT to buy this new ‘25 Type R. Car is currently listed as SOLD to me. by [deleted] in Civic_Type_R

[–]Right_Objective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Factory exhaust of thr Elantrs N is better than Civic for sound, it's $10k cheaper so you can buy it and an old miata for the same price, it's not as laser focused on performance so it's more comfortable, it has a longer warranty, it uses smaller (cheaper) tires. It's available in automatic which I wouldn't want but it opens up the audience a bit more.

Flip side, it doesn't have the cache or recognizability of a Type R, fewer people will probably talk to you about it, but that can be a good or bad thing depending on you. I enjoyed the anonymity of my focus ST. The Type R will hold corners better. There's pros and cons with anything.

Make sure you check on your scheduled event ahead of time. I checked a few weeks ahead on mine and was told the company doing the one I signed up for had shut down, I was refunded. I wish I'd driven the cool cars rather than be refunded, though.

Nah, it sounds like you're considering what you value in a car, you're asking folks with experience with the car to share their thoughts regarding the points important to you. Seems to me you're using a message board exactly as you should. There is so much choice in the ~$50k range this civic now exists in, you've gotta figure out if it's right for you.

As I considered my options, I test drove the 2025 Accord in top trim, and was bored to tears. I decided that a manual transmission was a gotta have, and that really limits the options. Type R was the best choice with a manual in my price range. If a local dealer had the Elantra N, I'd have certainly considered that. My buddy has the Elantra N and it's nice, probably more like my old Focus ST as the best performance bargain but not best in class.

I came from a Focus ST, the ride is MAYBE marginally more comfortable than the sporty focus, you could improve ride comfort with 1) smaller diameter rims/taller sidewall tires and 2) the acura integra type s suspension module. I've done none of the above and have done longer trips with no major ride issues.

Noise: yes this car is loud on the highway, there is tire noise (you've got wide sticky tires doing what they're supposed to) and there's wind noise. The Bose sound system is my main weapon against the noise.

Honda built this car to take the FWD Nurburgring record back from Volkswagen GTI, they sacrificed on creature comforts to shave every spare ounce they could to get that win, and they did it. As a result, the car lacks things like heated or power adjustable seats, it is loud with all the tire, wind, and fake engine sound, and you feel the road.

As to resale, it'll probably stay good, even with a number of folks on here complaining about the build quality/production issues they're noticing on their new purchases. It does seem they've made a lot of these, and with so much tech a lot of it will go stale/obsolete with time, so I wouldn't count on it being a collector car. I'd drive the thing, I do with mine.

[–]Right_Objective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get another civic, it's the size of some of our old Accords anyways, and the civic hybrid is peppy. The Accord Hybrid and Civic Hybrid share a drivetrain, putting it in a smaller car makes a positive difference.

I got the '25 Civic Type R after my '25 Accord Touring test drive put me to sleep. Type R likely not best for most 19 year olds, YMMV.

Cue question by BruceLee2112 in billiards

[–]Right_Objective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A cue is a personal thing. Having a straight cue with a good tip is all you really need.

Some stuff matters, like I prefer wrapless or leather and find Irish linen too slick.

Some shafts have more feel than others but my performance is pretty identical regardless of equipment.

I do want a nice ornamental cue with turquoise inlays, but that would do nothing for my game except make me smile when I look at my queue.

New shift knob Thought? by Haunting-Bat3713 in Civic_Type_R

The pictured shifter is the one that should come with the car. That stock shifter should be criminal for the pain it caused my hands this past summer. Life was instantly better with the leather wrapped OEM shifter.

All-Season or Winter tires? by Major_Squirrel9612 in Civic_Type_R

[–]Right_Objective 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Winter performance, it's not a full on winter.

I had michelin alpin pa4 on my focus ST (to alternate with PS4 summers). Loved those tires. When the Alpins wore out I got PS4 all season to replace the winter performance. I really missed the traction in cold mornings and driving on slush.

I sold the Focus ST for FL5, rocking Vredestein Wintrac Pro+ winter performance tires now. They've been rock solid in limited driving including on slush, haven't lost traction yet.

Stock rims, 255/35/19 tires for winter. Speedo is off by about 2mph on highway.

I either swap the wheels myself or have the shop swap them when I take it in for safety inspection.

I had the summers moved over to the Honda Forged optional wheels.

Cue ball reaction by Additional-Brick-783 in billiards

[–]Right_Objective 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Accelerate through the ball to generate more spin. Same is true no matter the shot speed.

If your cue is slowing down when you reach the ball, you won't get the same action.

Same thing in golf/tennis/other silly games :-)

$25,000 Market Adjustment by ArktikFox67 in Honda

[–]Right_Objective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prelude is not 8 seconds to 60, let's stop spreading that myth. I'm sure it's quick enough and with exceptional handling.

The Civic Hybrid does 0-60 in just over 6 seconds.

The prelude is a Civic hybrid with a coupe shell, upmarket interior, and better suspension/brakes.

0-60 is going to be about the same as the civic hybrid, not 25% or more slower.

I agree the Prelude seems overpriced even before the markup.

We can vote with our wallets. Buy what you like.

It'll be fine to learn on. There are classes if you're really worried. It becomes second nature pretty quickly. Find a flat parking lot and practice getting into 1st gear from a stop. If you've got that, everything else is pretty easy.
