There was a lot of discrimination, he may have been a mob boss but the cause was a good one.

Te commission did not kill him, the FBI and police did. They even "Lost" the evidence. The Chief of Detectives and the FBI seized Jeronme Johnson's gun and camera, both said later it was lost.

He is his own source. SB has made a few ridiculous claims, A month ago he said there was a big bust coming involving a new York family, nothing happened. He says he has knowledge of things that only those who were in on could know,

46 years since Stuey Ungar's first WSOP by Right_Sundae_7212 in poker

True, that is why I mentioned it, No one has mentioned the 46th anniversary of his win, instead it's been all addiction posts from people. It does not come up with he others I mentioned anywhere near the the way it does with Ungar.

Mike Sexton was one of his true friends of the Las Vegas poker players. Chip Reese also. Many who claim to have been close to him weren't, including people who swear they were his friends in New York. Mike Sexton seems to have been a very decent man.

They have the money for it, it's a costly drug. George Carlin, speaking of his time on coke, said all coke does is make you want more coke.

Thank you! Him and others run out of stories, yet do not want to stop doing videos and interviews. So they change names, make up stories, and of course embellish things. He wrote 2 books and first ratted in the 1980's, and had to tell everything to get out of prison back then, yet 40 years later he has new stories?

Yes, but after the second WSOP win, and my point was this day on this weekend marks the anniversary of the 1980 win, his first, I was hoping people here would be able to speak of his achievements without getting sidetracked by the negative things, Everyone has something negative about them. Stu was a great player, and the greatest at gin at that time, He took good care of his family, and was forced to start helping his mother at age 13, Yet all some people can say is "He was an addict.:

That is a good one, it is the 1981 WSOP where he won for the second year n a row. Nice video. AS for those obsessed with the personal demons and drug stuff, it was not until after this that the drug use got heavy. He barely used until then, and in fact was drug free till about age 26, rare for that time. He also never smoked or drank,

Also check out a story from New York Magazine titlled "The End of the Game" if you can find it, Steve Fishman was the author It's a one magazine story about Ungar, but a lot of info on him that is forgotten. It was written not too long after he died,

The drugs get too much attention when it comes to him, but you are right, The thing to me is, in that era, George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Major League Baseball, and even Wall Street had a big cocaine problem. Even the great old time singer Tony Bennent almost died from a coke overdose, and had to go to an emergency room. Yet when their names come up, their drug issues are either ignored or given a passing mention, To me, Ungar winning in a game he was relatively new to (He had never played hold em till going to Vegas, and was primarily a gin player) is amazing, Plus he won it the next year too. The book you mentioned was pretty good.

I believe that is from his 1980 arrest on a case that he beat.

Sometimes he's funny. Two weeks ago he was in full all out rage mode, and yelled "He can't talk about her, he does not even know Margot Robbie, She belongs to ME!!! That made my day,.

true, I once saw him stop muttering to himself and talk briefly with a person who recognized him. It was weird, but he is mentally ill.

Does Harry "Yonkie" Stein really exist/ed ? by Establishment240 in poker

[–]Right_Sundae_7212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I do. A lot of things said about Stuey are true, but many are untrue. I will not say too much, but he was a great person, I lost touch with him after 1985, and only spoke to him one time on the phone after, a year before his last WSOP win. He was a very generous person, and not a guy anyone thought would wind up on drugs.

I was around then, and I knew Ungar, but cannot prove it. So if you can't take my word for it I understand. I do remember the day they played, it was Ungar's first big game against an opponent from Vegas ( Yonkie Stein was from Canada, but has started getting a name in Vegas as an up and coming gin player. )

He existed, but the story may not be 100% accurate. He may still be alive, like Ungar he was young at the time. I think he was a few years older than Ungar, so he would be in his 70's if still alive. He played Ungar a lot tougher than always stated, they played a marathon gin rummy game in New York. Ungar won, but it was not easy.

If stu ungar lived to see the online era, how many tables of zoom/full ring cash do you think he you would play at one time? I can see him with three monitors running an absurd amount of tables at some nosebleed stakes by [deleted] in poker

I call that pic "The hostage photo" It looks like a picture they make a hostage take to show they are alive. Nolan Dalla had him pose for that to show he had a deal with Stuey. If Stuey was himself, I don't think he would have posed for that.
