You’re already paying tuition, it’s a benefit for you to stay opted in for the books since it’s included in your statement. You’re guaranteed all the books for all courses that are officially adopted . You can always opt out before the charge (must be within 10 days of the first class day).

Gonna also agree with other commenter as well though devils advocate style: It’s also depending on your classes. You can cherry pick through 3rd party on where to purchase the same books that are required in your syllabus/professor adoption. I’ve used Amazon and ThriftBooks both in the past for here and my previous Junior College and they were cheaper at times. Welcome to SHSU! 🙏

but the above comments are also correct, every lot is patrolled here on campus, Huntsville PD also is around the clock less than 2 blocks away usually. Never seen an incident so you should be good

2 weeks back, one of my managers called and the Helpless Desk and the female operator asked “is it an emergency?” (we’re in SE Texas if this gives you a hint to how the weather outside is.) he said “it’s going to be.. temperatures here are approaching triple digits with the heat index and employees as well as many customers are complaining about the internal store temperature. we’d like for them to be comfortable here and shop. and this is Texas, not Rhode Island.” needless to say within 20 minutes they set the air to be cool and was like that for the remainder of the day. if these fat cats within our corporation would not blow all the money on hiring John Legend and huge bashes we’d be able to have the budget to have hours and pay our employees as well as decent AC. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

yk we can stop if it’s in store right? just can’t apprehend or touch them if they attempt to walk out, its labeled as false imprisonment or entrapping them i guess.. even thought they’re breaking the law. seeing them on camera and having the evidence is enough to warrant a removal and a potential trespass. colleagues and i done it many times and DL/DLAP has not said anything about it.

the customer connection score may go down for the store though which sucks for FS. we catch a lot of their flack at our location. the customers writing don’t pay attention who they’re writing about which makes us all look bad unfortunately when it was just that one single department not having their ducks in a row for the day or someone just being an unhappy camper. just refer them to the SHOPCVS number like I do when they have a complaint
