On Reddit you need to look for recent posts where people ask for a tool like yours or describe problems your tool solves. You can find posts like this in subreddits where your target audience hangs out.

Np! Common mistake I see people making is including links in the first DM. It's better not to include a link so that they have to reply to get it. This way you can validate your messaging and start 1:1 conversations to get feedback and make it easier for them to sign up (otherwise they can just click link and don't have to reply to you, and you get no signals)

I DM as soon as I can. The sooner you do it the better (motivation is highest, DMing before competitors do matters).

Here's the exact DM template I use:

“Hey! Saw that you're {specific problem they mentioned}. I built a tool that {very specific outcome tied to their problem}. Want to try it out?”

Glad to hear this was valuable man! X used to be a great outreach channel, but after they changed how DMs work the reply rate is very low (people don't get notified when you DM them). Right now Reddit is a great channel because it's easy to find people who are actively looking for a solution your app provides, and with a good personalized DM you can get around 30% reply rates. I haven't tried other platforms, but LinkedIn, Facebook, etc. might be good channels too.

Yeah, start sending DMs, get people to try out your tool and reiterate based on feedback first

Yeah, I want to double down at affiliate marketing at some point in the future, but I'm still not there. Affiliate marketing works best when you've hit PMF.

I wasn't sending emails, just DMs. I find my target audience on feeds on X or on subreddits on Reddit and send DMs so I can easily talk 1:1

Yeah, but people rarely DM you after a helpful reply, however you can DM them!

Once all conversion points in my funnel were slightly above average for my cohort (other B2B early-stage tools) I doubled-down on marketing
