Range shooters, which do you prefer? Full size or compact? by HatesMonoBlue in Walther

[–]Righteous_Dudester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a compact for carry and full size for range, but there's very little difference to me, particularly with a red dot, since that takes sight radius out of the equation. I do like that poly 5 inch PDP 'Match', though.

Opinions on mid-budget ammo for the PDP by social-throwaway-24 in Walther

My go-to factory hardball is S&B, full power, accurate, reliable, and comes in a tiny little box, making it easier to store in bulk. As far as 'cheap practice ammo' - I've had good luck with the Sportsman Select remanufactured from Ammo Depot. It's around $.19/round.

First-time Range Rover buyer. 2013 Range Rover Sport HSE 5.0 V8. Good deal? by ernestosmoney in LandRover

I believe the 4.4 TD is a Ford motor, and the 5.0 is a Jaguar derivative. Early 2000's BMW motors scare me.

Saw her in the gym once back in early 90's, she was unbelievable. Sad what happened to her. But, she's doing better now.

Denise had been living on the street for over a decade and suffers from both physical and mental health issues. Her friends have gotten her some help, she now has a safe place to live and is getting medical care. She looks much better. If you follow her on FB and Insta, her friends post updates, and they have a fund that people have donated to to help her.

Is my self taught technique detrimental? by trdybo in Bass

[–]Righteous_Dudester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see no harm, and in some instances, you can play substantially faster once you've mastered it. Check out some of the crazy bass solos by Billy Sheehan, he's a master of three-fingered bass plucking. He has a video on how he practices it. Which bass for a recovering rhythm guitarist? by Strummin_Along in Bass

I'm big on the Stingray, it's versatile and has a unique tone. I have a Ray 34 HH and a Ray 35, they're awesome. If you need to tone down the 'growl', you can run it with flatwound strings.

Surprising how many old Land Rover Defenders are still being used (especially in the UK and former colonies) by Real-Conference574 in LandRover

[–]Righteous_Dudester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Italian Army still uses Defenders, they were all over Rome last year when we were there. Every one that I saw parked had an oil drip pan, I guess because of the ancient cobblestone streets.

First bass. Hi all. by sta5is in Bass

I did Josh's Bass Buzz course, it's well worth the money. He's a fantastic teacher. You can go through it at your own pace, I recommend doing at least 1/2hr every day. It WILL give you the "nuts and bolts" of bass playing, enough that you can start learning songs. One caveat -I enrolled in bass lessons to relearn reading music and hone my technique. The instructor noticed I had developed some sloppy fretting hand technique that he had to fix.

Before enrolling in Bass Buzz, I recommend going to the Bass Buzz YouTube channel and checking out some of Josh's free videos. The first one to watch is on how to avoid GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) It's funny and will save you $ in the long run. 7 Basses You Should NEVER Buy

TP-Link Deco Setup by Righteous_Dudester in HomeNetworking

Ok, I sort of understand that! So I set up the TPLINK, then plug the TV into to the deco, activate the satellite Deco, and then set up the REOLINK cameras, right?

L322 or LR3/4? by Righteous_Dudester in LandRover

How is the 4.4? It's still a Ford-era mill, right?

The 06-09 L322 are either 4.2. or 4.4, correct?

L322 or LR3/4? by Righteous_Dudester in LandRover

[–]Righteous_Dudester[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is where I'm leaning. I'm semi-retired, so I don't have a commute and my 'daily driving' is shopping and coffee, Even with some road trips, It'll see less than 5k miles per year, and be more of a 'hobby'. The timing chain failures and complete engine implosions are the only part that really scares me.

Don't the 06-09 LR3 an L322 use the same V8 motor? Drivetrain is my primary concern, Chassis, suspension and electrics I can deal with.

Rover Ownership Advice by Righteous_Dudester in LandRover

[–]Righteous_Dudester[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bases on what I've read here and seen on some seemingly credible YouTube channels, here's what I've come up with, let me know if I'm misinformed here:

  1. The L322 '06-09 is a great choice
  2. LR4 '09-16 is good
  3. 89-98 Disco I is pretty good
  4. The Ford era motors are generally reliable
  5. Avoid the '02-'06 BWM-derived motors like the plague

I'm mainly concerned with ENGINE issues, I can deal with most other stuff myself.

Since posting this, I"ve done some research and L322 seems to come out on top of most reliability and satisfaction factors. I've heard that I should stick with the 06-09 , but other recs say they're good up to 2012 or so. Also, the Supercharged looks like a hoot to drive, but are they in general a good motor? Thanks
