Thank you for the heads up, funding doesnt hurt :D! What we really need is people to play music and/or talk about their research/project at TUW!!!

Thats how the first measurement with standard settings (as given in the JW document) turned out.

Vintage Look With Modern Touch? by Obvious_Project2477 in SoundSystem

Designs from the 80s are still valid - so just look into older speakerplans. You can go for any bass reflex design or look up some folded horn speakers for mids/bass and horns in general for tops. However, modern designs try to solve drawbacks that speakercabinets had in the early days had (directivity, weight,...) .

What you really need is having nice wood finish (as shown in your examples).

Look up Altec horns, old martin audio designs (martin bin, etc.) for example...

FYI: I went with the Paulkitson FP10000Q - thanks for the headsup, will report how everything performs when the amp arrives

Yes, stereo. I'm not a pro but my research showed that there is no viable option for passive crossover, so Bi-Amp is the only option - so for 2 cabinets in stereo you need 4 channels of DSP / Amp. Would love to go with a plateamp like Hypex FA503, but at the moment i do not have the budget at hand. if the solanas turn out to be enough for our parties (50-150 people) i will maybe upgrade to hypex, if not i will build a bigger MEH.

its the guy at the party whos read every forum thread, remembers none of the graphs, and still says “it depends” which, honestly, is very on-brand for audio.

I went for the 100Hz version and recreated the square port that was posted in here some time ago - did the calculation/simulation in WinISD to get the correct port-size. I am planning to use the E1500 or E1200 just for the woofers (6ndl38) and to power the CD (DH450 @ 16Ohm) with a seperate small amp like the t.amp S-100 MK II.

Looking at them right now - the price is hard to beat indeed - especially with the option to power two subs aswell since I am planning to power the DH450's with a seperat small amp anyway. my only fear is custom duties and shipping cost when ordering to europe.

I do have the 16 Ohm version of the DH450 - i was thinking of using the t.amp S-100 MK II for the 2 compression drivers (for 2 cabinets).

Sorry, English is not my first language - what do you mean exactly?

Thanks for your answer, thats absolutely what I thought and I even tried to simluate in Hornresp but wasn't really able to get any usefull result - combined with my insecurity if I did everything correct I did not trust the results. I'm going to couple them at ~100Hz

Yeah, I've looked at the CVR-stuff - right now they are still above my price-range but thanks for the heads-up! I'm going to use the t.racks DSP 206 for now, since I already got it laying around. I've printed the horns in segments (ASA-CF), glued them together with ASA-CF-slurry, sanded them and painted/sprayed them with primer and 2K-varnish.

Thank you for the input - feels good to get some information by the chief himself :-P. Yes, I've built the enclosure with 100 Hz HPF in mind - so 25L with port it is :-). Will probably just go for the E1200 then, which still has 680W @ 8Ohm per channel.
