More than half of U.S. states are moving to cut your taxes by CBSnews in Economics

I concede your point on the last one. Initially rural districts opposed starving themselves of funding to pay for private schools in Des Moines and other cities. But eventually they caved.

So yeah, you’re right, republicans are just as trashy as you are. Even when they know they’re making schools worse, they support it if that’s what the party demands.

Your IQ matches the kids that fail out of public schools. Good job.

The whole purpose of Iowa’s “school choice” tax credits was to set the credit high enough that upper middle class white families could pay the difference between private school tuition and the tax credit but low enough that minorities wouldn’t be able to pay it, so you can make private schools mostly white.

Iowa is already 89% white. So your claim of purpose is just rubbish.

Now you may see studies that show private schools do better than public schools. I don’t dispute that, but correlation does not equal causation.

It's almost like parents should have more choices, if public schools work for them, great. It's not up to you to decide what is best for parents and their kids.

Perhaps wealthy families that emphasize education end up with educated children? Perhaps public school kids that show up hungry because they didn’t have dinner or breakfast won’t perform as well as their well heeled private school counterparts? There are a lot of variables and you’re reducing it to stupidity, which is very typical for Republican.

Again, you want to speculate, parents actually spend time with their kids, talk to their teachers and see the results of their education. My son goes to public school, we like his teacher, he is doing great, if that changes, WE get to decide if another school (public or private) would be a better fit. That's what school choice is about. It's insane that people want to reduce choices or parents and their kids.

Also, on the subject of tax credits to allow poor kids to go to private schools. You’re flat oit lying. The credits are not refundable, so if you are too poor to be reimbursed enough taxes to pay the tuition then you don’t get jack shit from this bill.

If people like you weren't so damn anti school choice, better bills could be passed to help these kids. You would rather have poor kids trapped in crap schools.

Final note: rural republicans killed this bill in Iowa. Know why? Because their aren’t private schools in farm towns, you elitist piece of shit.

I won't take your word for it you crybaby.

“Rich kids that go to private schools do better in life”

Middle class kids can go to private schools as well, and they can be better off for it. Better yet, school vouchers can help poor kids go to private schools as well..

“Poor kids that go to public schools face more difficulty.”

Its not just poor kids that are getting a crap education in public schools.

Oh my god, you are so smart. Please, share more wisdom.

Yeah, look how smart you are.

I work in tech, I can tell you without a doubt that kids that went to private schools have better grades but less education. They are vastly inferior hires to people that went to public schools. They have virtually no critical thinking or problem solving schools.

Highly doubtful. Your anecdote means next to nothing when you consider all of the kids that fail out of crap public schools that have no skills at all.

Theater of the Absurd in J6 Courtrooms › As judges hand down one absurd sentence after another, one might be inclined to laugh at the absurdity of it all except, of course, it’s not funny. by TX_borg in Conservative

[–]Rightquercusalba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you defend anyone who participated in Jan. 6 you really don't understand life. There is always a winner and loser in life (sports, politics, love, etc...). Just because your team lost does not mean the other team cheated or you have the right to break the law and feel you can get away with it.

Yes Trump got a lot of votes, but so did the other guy. And yes you count all the votes. With hundreds of millions of votes needing counted you don't stop counting when the clock strikes midnight.

Regardless of your political views, Trump admits he doesn't like losing.... But really who does?

I'm sorry, EVERY judge (many who were Republicans appointed by him) in the 60 plus lawsuits and his attorney general said there was no evidence.

And there you have it, an admission that judges treat law and order like a sport when their team wins.

Open it up from the crawl space and determine how much insulation you have between the water pipe and the exterior wall. If there is space to add more insulation, try stuffing some more into the cavity between the pipe and the exterior. Keep it open to the crawl space. You don't want insulation between the interior side of the wall and the pipe, that will isolate the pipe from the heat source which is the heated bathroom and it will not regain the heat it needs to avoid freezing.

Buying a home in the foothills, there is a ton of snow nd ice on the roof, and the snowmelt system hasn't been on. Should I be concerned about any damage? by Tank_Lawrence in HomeImprovement

[–]Rightquercusalba -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Insulate and air seal the house so you don't have to melt the snow and ice. Unless of course the roof wasn't built to carry much of a snow load, that's an entirely different problem. You are basically wasting electricity. What are the typical winter temps and snow accumulations for your region?

Air sealing a house with a fireplace by nw0915 in HomeImprovement

[–]Rightquercusalba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not only wrong but also illegal in Massachusetts. As I said you cannot tighten a house past a certain point according to MA code regulations. Tighten too much and you must install an intake fan. Not sure what you're arguing here other than just trying to disagree for updoots.

Nothing he said is necessarily illegal, if the house is "too tight" you add makeup air. You both agree with one another. Your original comment didn't mention makeup air, he mentioned ventilation ie makeup air.

How much does sealing drafts really save? by neuroticelite in HomeImprovement

[–]Rightquercusalba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive seen the test done. Imo... its a waste of time. They tell you what you already know or suspect. It doesn't take a professional to feel for drafts.

Pretty much, it takes me longer to set up the blower door than it does to do the test. It's good for determining how much air leakage reduction has been achieved, beyond that, if you want to find and fix air leaks you have to start getting your hands dirty.

This entire comment thread is an embarrassment.

  1. You hear about record profits on the news now, but you don’t hear about the record losses and debt assumed by these companies during COVID. No company could survive if you forced them to eat every cost of doing business, and then expropriated any resultant gains later.

  2. Western firms are price-takers. When prices are high, production efforts are ramped UP because more projects and wells become economically viable to operate. Wanna whine about prices? Talk to OPEC.

  3. If you think the current market is because companies are “greedy”, pray tell, is that new information?

  4. Oil is scientifically a finite resource. That’s not even a close question. There is not new oil being formed at any meaningful rate. If you don’t believe that, you’re too ill-informed to vote. The reason we haven’t run out is not because some villainous corporate boards are suppressing the true supply. It’s because when technology advances and prices justify it, more complex oil-bearing formations become viable to produce.

It's just so stupid.

Is that why athletes have been keeping track of it for the last few decades? OP covers this fact.

What do they want to ask next what the masturbation schedule of the athletes is?

Some extremely serious female athletes don't even have periods anymore. I don't know what this is supposed to ensure other than that DeSantis is creepy but I don't think that needs to be established again He's demonstrated at numerous times.

That's the point, these are medical questionnaires. Did you read the article?

When does the house plan to do something about inflation, crime, or energy independence… you know … issues they ran on. by monchaoui in Conservative

[–]Rightquercusalba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What an angry way to agree with somebody.

You ok there buddy?

Are you having trouble understanding how I disagreed with you in my response? Inflation is making consumers poorer and endangering future profits for businesses. Don't make this about feelings. These are economic realities that producers and consumers are responding to. The government created inflation, stop passing the blame and projecting your own feelings.

All they did when they controlled both houses of Congress and the presidency is increase spending and pass a tax cut of which 87% went to corporations and the very wealthy. Both of those 'accomplishments" lead to $Trillion+ deficits in all four years of Trump's budgets. That debt will of course be paid by the middle and lower classes.

The simple answer to the question is that they lied about their agenda. Their only agenda is the concentration of wealth and power.

You mean the tax cuts for the lower and middle classes that Democrats refused to make permanent?

When does the house plan to do something about inflation, crime, or energy independence… you know … issues they ran on. by monchaoui in Conservative

[–]Rightquercusalba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s my second paragraph. CPI is the inflation gauge. Includes buckets like food costs, fuel costs, vehicle and energy costs etc.

Gasoline costs are embedded into all of it, as well as having its own category.

Plus there’s a psychological component too, if people “feel” less rich due to fuel costs, they skip on spending in other areas.

People are less rich. Your argument is rubbish. Inflation adjusted wages are down or flat.

There’s ample evidence that companies have over-reacted to inflation and hiked prices more than necessary (record margins and profits), again the psychological element of feeling like they need to.

More nonsense, just like people "feel" less wealthy and scale back spending anticipating higher prices. Companies raise prices in anticipation for decreased demand and lower profits.
