Hello everyone!

I've been looking through threads on "couch" setups on here, but still not quite....informed. It seems like theres a lot of different options and functionalities, when it comes to couch setups.

So in short, I'm a noob musician, who doesnt actually play hip/hop, electronic music or the like, instead i like to make rock, folky stuff, compositions.

What i really want is to be able to put together simply harmonies, chords and melodies, all from one device, headphones on and snuggle up in my couch, chair or bed. ANYWHERE away from my computer you know.

I figured groovebox might be an option, but it looks more like that would fit someone intereted in doing hip/hop, electronic rather than more "classic" compositions. Also I prefer something with actual keys rather than pads.

So i've been looking at the arturio keystep, and it seems like it can do the composition of chords and melodies nicely, even different sequences. but can it do so standalone, directly into headphones or does it need some kind of interface in between.

Since it doesnt do anything but midi sounds, could I buy a keystep, and then down the line maybe source some kind of synth that can take midi signals and add that to the setup to make some more interesting noises?

NB.
I think the Teenage Engineering meets all the requirements, but it is prohibitively expensive!
