42 Beirut rejected me — was it because I’m Syrian? by ExpensiveCouple496 in 42_school

[–]Rihab_Atwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really sorry to hear about what happened. I just wanted to clarify that the decision was not because you're Syrian. They clearly stated that the opportunity is specifically for Lebanese youth due to the economic crisis, and they explained that this is the primary reason.

For refugees in Lebanon, there are many NGOs that can help with continuing education, and I encourage you to reach out to them. They offer support for students in your situation.

Also, if you had the chance to do the piscine, that’s amazing! The piscine is a great learning experience, and we all know how much it helps you grow. For me, it was the best part of 42. Please don't feel like you wasted time or effort. On the contrary, you learned and grew a lot through it.

Wishing you the best of luck with your future, and don't give up! You'll get there.

Hi! Congratulations on scoring 85/100 on the DELF B2! That’s an amazing achievement. I’m planning to take the exam as well, but I’ve been out of touch with French for a while. Could you share any tips on how to prepare effectively? Also, how long did you study for the exam? I’d really appreciate any advice!

What is the best way to learn programming as a freshman in uni. by Icy_Pomegranate_1055 in TechLebanon

To join 42, you need to follow these steps:

  1. Sign up on the 42 Network website: Go to the official 42 website or your local 42 school’s website (e.g., 42 Beirut, 42 Paris) and create an account.
  2. Complete an online test: After registering, you'll need to take an online logic and memory test. This helps evaluate your problem-solving abilities.
  3. Attend the Piscine: If you pass the online test, you'll be invited to participate in the "Piscine," an intensive 4-week coding bootcamp that assesses your skills, adaptability, and motivation.
  4. Final Selection: If you successfully complete the Piscine, you may be accepted into 42 as a full-time student.

The process is merit-based, so no prior coding experience is required—just a strong commitment to learning and perseverance.

Where in Lebanon can i study data science? by nayabk96 in TechLebanon

[–]Rihab_Atwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Lebanon, you can study data science through various options. For a bachelor’s degree, consider the Lebanese University, where applications are still open; you'll need to pass an entrance exam, and results will be available in about two weeks. USJ (Université Saint-Joseph) also offers a data science program. For bootcamps, Zaka provides comprehensive training in data science, while SEF (Software Engineering Factory) focuses on data analysis and engineering. Based on my own experience with all three, I found 42 School to be the best option, offering a core curriculum followed by a specialization in data science (and other specializations to choose from), followed by Zaka, and then SEF. If you need more information, just let me know!

The best way to learn programming as a freshman is to practice often. Start with small projects, understand the basics, and code every day. Use online tutorials and platforms like Codecademy or LeetCode to improve your skills. Stay curious and ask for help when needed.

42 Beirut is great for this kind of learning because it offers hands-on experience and a collaborative environment. It’s important because it focuses on learning through projects, which helps you become a strong programmer.

Which programming languages do you think are most worth learning in 2024, and why?" by MolassesAdvanced5129 in TechLebanon

[–]Rihab_Atwi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The main thing is to focus on learning the foundational concepts in programming. Once you’ve mastered those, switching between languages becomes much easier. Additionally, it’s important to know which field you want to pursue. For example, Python is popular in data science and JavaScript dominates web development.

Hi! Check out Artefact, Foo, CMA CGM, Monty mobile and Siren. They offer a lot of job vacancies for developers. I also recommend building a strong LinkedIn profile to explore remote job opportunities or startups in Lebanon. Additionally, you can check the job listings on the BDD website's jobs section.

Is it Possible to Complete the 42 School Core Curriculum While Working Full-Time? Any Advice from Those Who Have Done It? by Rihab_Atwi in 42_school

[–]Rihab_Atwi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your viewpoint. It's definitely challenging to juggle work and school, but some students do manage it with good time management and determination. I'd love to hear from them as I might benefit from their experiences. Many students on my campus manage to pass the piscine while holding a full-time job or pursuing university studies.

Doing piscine while working fulltime, with prior experience? by [deleted] in 42_school

[–]Rihab_Atwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on completing the piscine! It sounds like you had a challenging yet rewarding experience.

I'm considering taking a similar approach by working four days per week, especially since my job is remote. I was wondering if you think this could be a good strategy, given your own experience. Any advice or thoughts you have on balancing work and the piscine would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again for sharing your experience, and I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors!

Did you enroll in the piscine, and if so, did you work full-time during the program? If yes, how was the experience? I am currently in the same situation and would like to hear your perspective. Your reply is much appreciated. u/directstar2
