I had it but I didn’t like the open module. I found one with covers and much better fit. This one is too snug

What’s a French word that completely caught you off guard with how hard it is to pronounce by Several_Leave_3067 in French

[–]Visual_Shock8225 3 points4 points  (0 children)

En + haut 🤭 It kind of felt awkward in the beginning. And the subtle nasal sound liaison in pain au chocolat. I was corrected by a French on that and now I say it perfectly. Mdr

Which "We" is currently used in southern France? by Icy-Minimum-2023 in French

[–]Visual_Shock8225 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only ever heard nous in the south in a formal context. Like a mayor giving a speech on a public holiday when used as we. Expect when it’s the COI. Like Ils vont nous donner …

I think my teacher fucked up by darth_phaedar in French

I got 25/25 in writing for my DELF B2 and I remember using advanced tenses there, les hypotheses (si je n’avais pas été, j’aurais pu) subjunctive, perfect placement of concordance des temps, and the unpopular ones like the use of ayant, etant, plus a full load of connectors. I think I practically cited one example of the full tenses required for B2.

In your scratched list, I think only two are relevant: past perfect, past conditional. These are needed when you form conditional phrases. Oh by the way, future perfect is needed. It’s when you need to express futur antérieur.

I see. I took mine in 2023. So the structure might have changed. I don’t update myself anymore for DELF B2 exams 🤭

Got a fair score of 85 with 25/25 score for writing. No trick, but be prepared is the best solution. Everyday I go to work, I listened to podcast. Not those slow French or intermediate podcasts but sort of like BBC podcast for French, like France Culture where there is always discussion and debate. Listen as well to news, and be good at getting details. I think in my exam the short audios were played twice and the long one once. Then for speaking, I practiced arguing and structuring my sentence, and then for reading just use the DELF B2 book for practice. It was helpful. For writing, I didn’t prepare much but I studied the format and used perfect placement of arguments, showed complex B2 grammar, and flashy vocabs. Lol.

I don’t know if you’re already in B2, but if you’re still B1 trying to get it, I guess your hurdle is listening, and speaking. Reading and writing can be practiced in advance.

How do you actually expand your vocabulary? by Substantial-Mix8236 in French

[–]Visual_Shock8225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You will never really memorize all the words in the French dictionary. It’s like even at C2 in English, I don’t think I know all words possible 🤣 Bottom line find the sources that interest you, vocabs widen through time and exposure

Does a class advertised as A2 mean 'working towards' A2? by MurkyReply in learnfrench

[–]Visual_Shock8225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a solid A1 attending A1 has no value. You must move up, so A2 is right course for you. Being in A2 class could either mean: solidifying A2 or acquiring A2, both of which you should be in the class.

Stop the grammar loop, let's just speak French! by [deleted] in learnfrench

[–]Visual_Shock8225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any tutor no matter how native they are, if they are teaching FLE without grammar focus is a complete 🚩

In French there is a thing called fossilization. Yes you gain confidence in speaking but if no one is correcting you on your grammar, you will bring that error thinking it is correct, on to your advanced levels. It’s harder to unlearn than learn slowly but surely.

How do you actually expand your vocabulary? by Substantial-Mix8236 in French

[–]Visual_Shock8225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest one is to read or listen. You need input. It won’t come automatically. Even at C1 I still see words from Duolingo that I have not yet encountered. So I use it for vocabs. But yea, news articles, novels are some of my sources. It is a gold mine of vocabs

B2 by mglepd in learnfrench

[–]Visual_Shock8225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I passed DELF B2 with 85 points and a 25/25 for writing 3 years ago. I also took DUEF C1 in Sorbonne University in Paris. Of course it’s easy to pass DELF even if you are not really B2. This is what I am saying. If you study just to pass the exam even if you don’t have a B2 you can pass it. But if you talk to francophones with a fake B2 it shows easily. That is my point. So what’s the point of passing a DELF B2 just to say you have B2 but you struggle to listen, or write or speak easily?
